STX (Street Touring X) 06 JCW class
06 JCW class
I've searched and read a few threads here and it seems some are running the 06 JCW in STX class. That's good if so.
I found out on the SCCA site that the stock 06 JCW falls into B stock but I will be adding a sway bar to the rear. That puts any MCS into STX from what I read in the rules posted at the top of this forum. What I'm curious about is whether or not I should read these same rules and consider the 06 JCW as stock. No engine modifications such as pulley even though it comes with a smaller pulley than a non JCW.
I'm just confused about the issue even after reading the posts here. What class will I be eligible for when I add the rear sway bar? Also, which wheel size is preferred? I like 16"s but am not sure if they will fit with the JCW brake kit.

You can make all the legal STX mods to your JCW and still be in STX. You can't put a different Super charger pulley on, you must use the JCW pulley if you have a JCW and can't use it if you don't. Sway bars and most other suspension mods are fine. In STX, many are running 16" wheels usually with a 215/45/16 tire. I and many others use 15's, though I don't have the JCW brakes, most 16" wheels will clear them and probably my 15" SSR's as they clear the MCS brakes by more than the OEM 16's and the 11.75" Willwoods.
16" SSR Comps fit over the JCW brakes. I am running them with 205/40/16 Azenis but am swapping out to 225/50/16 Azenis. TireRack's website has the JCW option as a choice so you can see what 16's they carry fit over the JCW brakes.
16" over JCW brakes
If you want to stay with MINI wheels, there are 2 16" wheels that fit over the JCW brakes. One is heavier than the other.
I chose the R87 MINI wheels (double spoke design)... weight ~16lbs. The other 16" was ~21lbs... so I passed... I believe it was the bridge spoke design.
I got them from the MINI dealer for ~$150 each. retail is about $175.
I do not know about other 16" wheels... but these clear the calipers by about 1/2 inch. Plenty of room for inner mounted wheels weights. I've heard other 16" wheels do not give you enough clearance for inner weigths.
good luck.
