We'll be coming from East Tennessee with one classic and one new MINI. We will also be doing the associated Phil Wicks Driving Academy and watching the next round of the North American MINI Cooper Championship race at Summit Point.

This is a great opportunity to see a large number of classic Minis and variants.

Are any DCMM'ers even interested in going? For the price I'm not... Not quite sure why... Maybe it's the poor amount of info on the mme2006 website...

Anyhow, anyone going?

This event has been held for many years with the same basic format. The location changes. That is probably why you don't see much info on the web site. Same stuff, different place. It will be the largest gathering of classic Minis on the east coast and will have many variants that you don't see very often. Some Minis will be very customized and others restored to original condition.

It includes a car show, a funkhana (a slow speed kind of parking lot race where you do goofy things), touring rally, picnic, autocross and a lot of hanging out in the parking lot chatting.

Even if you don't participate in the event, if you have an opportunity to come see the car show it will be worth your while. I believe it is scheduled for Friday morning at the Holiday Inn in Frederick.

I'm taking off work on thursday to watch the races. That's probably the extent of me doing anything MME related.

I'm going to head up definately to watch the races, and at least take the parade laps. The track school sounds like it'd be a blast (as most motorcyle track days I ve been too) but I dont like that its going to get cut short of a full days event for the races in the afternoon.

Anyone else wnt to go up from DC?

Zack

There are still six sessions on the schedule for novice and intermediate for this event. The race practice, races, and DE all fit around each other. The novices will have one session on skid pan. Nothing is cut short.

Also, I forgot to mention that in addition to the listed activities the entry fee includes two meals, a picnic and a banquet meal.

FYI - This was queen B. I get in trouble posting from home and become confused as to my identity.

Ah, I read through it again and it does look like a full day of activities. Come to think of it, thats the way they alternate motorcycle track days sessions too. I think I will sign up for it. Whats a skid pan session? Do you know if they have helmets there?, mine is in storage elsewhere...

Skid pan is where you work on wet surface.

I'm a bit slow...

Forgive me for being clueless, but I make up for it with enthusiasm .

So, if I may clarify - the car show on Friday at the Holiday inn is open to all spectators, and "Registration" is only necessary if you want to put your car in the show, yes?

Any fee for coming in and staring at the pretty cars with my kids? I may have to take off work for this!

Registration is for the entire event and includes the car show.
Looks are for free I do believe.

Be sure and say hey.
I'll be in a purple classic and the other half will be in a CR/JCW with a chequered top.

no worries, I did a quick google search and turned up the website for the people running it. Passed that info along, sounds like he might show up.

Yes registration is only necessary to put your car in the show or go on the road rally or do the funkana. It's free to come check out the cars and the vendor area. We usually hang out in the parking lot late in the night talking cars.

I've been wondering about the wet weather and flooding reports up that way. It's looking like it should move on out, doesn't it?

I'm leaving around 4 to 5am tomorrow morning. I need to get as much am drive time in due to no a/c in the classic.
