Milwaukee July 4th parade?

Anyone else heading up to Milwaukee to participate in their 4th of July parade?

Family and I are leaving early morning. Let me know if you want to caravan up there.

More info Here

I'll be sure to let my neighbors to wear safety goggles! I'm just trying to come up with a candy delivery system while I'm driving as I'm not sure if I'll have a co-pilot.

It would be great to have some folks come up for the parade. Happily I live in Wauwatosa, so not much of a stretch for me!

Candy delivery system... how about through a roof mounted potato gun.

"Hi there kids... would you like to candy?" BAM!!!!

... only kidding. I love kids.

Agreed, however, it would be excellent to have people come up for the parade. (Tosa resident as well)

Depending on how long the parade lasts, we were thinking of visiting the Milwaukee Zoo afterwards. It looks like it's on the way to the staging area for the parade.

Anyone interested in a side-trip after the parade?

Plans after parade

The Milwaukee Zoo is a fantastic attraction, and I highly recommend a visit there. We're actually trying to figure out what to do after the parade, and were going to suggest pizza at a pizzeria across from the Zoo entrance. More details will be posted tonight...

As I mentioned on the CMMC site, I do have a zoo membership that includes one guest, so I can get someone in for free. Note that the admission to the Zoo does not include the $8.00 parking fee, if you choose to park at the zoo. There is on-street parking near the zoo. We can figure out the zoo details "pre-" and "post-parade."

You know, I was thinking something similar to that! Maybe a mortor shell type device through the sunroof would be better! Actually, I've found a co-pilot who will be assisting in the distribution of sweetened foods to the sugar-starved masses.

Update on the Candy

Rumor has it that rocket propelled candy delivery systems won't be accepted.
And by that I mean: Rumor has it that we may not be able to throw candy from the car. (Poor Billy probably got knocked unconscious by a dumdum last year)

I don't know if this is absolutely true, but it might be safe to bring a co-pilot who could walk along side your MINI hand nicely hand the candy to the kiddies.

Great weather + great cars + great people = great time! Thanks to our friends down south for coming up to join us in the parade. I've whipped together a website of pictures here. Apologies to those cars that I missed getting a picture of.

I neglected to mention that other than the calls for candy by the kids, I got the "what kind of mileage do you get?" and more importantly "what do you do at your MINI meetings?" Of course, being inside a moving car, watching for stray kids scrambling for candy, I couldn't get a response back in time. Anyone else get any unique calls from the crowd?

My favorite, overheard during the parade:
"Those must be old Minis because they don't have BMW badges"

We got a few "I love that color!!" BRG baby

I also got a couple of "oohs and aaahhs" when I started weaving in the street.

Finally, we got a few "thank you for coming" when they saw our plates.

I saw that and would have followed suit, but the guy doing surgery to his RC in my boot would not have appreciated it.

I'm glad the crowd mirrored the Milwaukee MINIs' appreciation of the CMMC'ers braving the early hours and the drive up to join us.
