In the midst of the dizzying three hour marathon it takes to read all of the posts on MCO and MINI2 regarding activating the MINI's rear fogs, I recall reading that someone had convinced their Motoring Assistant to add a request to their US spec order, asking to add/activate the rear fog lights.

Is that individual still out there? What happened? It has been a while, and now I am trying the same thing. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with this, or had any suggestions for trying to proceed with it? My MA is game to try, but we both are looking for any help from others that have tried it.

PS: If you are not familiar with this topic, the MINI has all the wiring and hardware for the rear fogs except one toggle and a computer code. MINI USA won't give up the code. Please read the posts on MCO and MINI2; just do a search for "rear fog". And search for "rear fog petition" to find and sign the online petition to MINI USA, asking them to provide the info we need to activate the rear fogs.

This was replied to over on MINI2. The guy says he could not order it.
You're better off using those additional lights as brake lights anyway.

 

Thanks Morales. Looks like I'm out of luck in trying to get these from the factory.

I agree that the extra brake lights are a good thing, but I think the rear fogs are equally, if not more beneficial. I've seen all the brake light mods and also one where the guy wired the rear fogs to come on with the front fogs. I'm now thinking I might try to hybrid these ideas. A simple relay circuit to drive the rear fogs that was triggered by both the brake lights and the front fogs would give the best of both worlds. Time to put the thinking cap on. :smile:

You can order the 6-toggle panel, run a search on toggles here, some people have done it already, I will in the future. It won't work, of course, but it will at least fill in the extra spot.

By the way, the factory does not take custom orders (as of yet), I've tried too.
