ASA AR1 Owners I want your feedback!

Alright as the title suggests, those of you who have or know of the ASA AR1 wheel, owners preferably, i would like some input. i'm leaning towards these wheels because i really enjoy the black with chrome lip. I'm considering doing a 17" set with BFGoodrich T/A KDW's for the meat.

What are everyones thoughts on these wheels? Good, Bad, I want to know what you suggest if i should go something else.

P.S. If you know of any other wheels similar in black or bronze coloring i'd love to hear your suggestions and/or pictures!

Thanks everyone in advance

I had them on my wife's car and thought they're great. They look magnificant up close and the polished lip looks quite nice while moving. They are hard to clean however, as is any wheels w/ mesh.

You should buy mine, near new for sale

I have this exact set-up on my car. Picture in my gallery.

I love them. The lip is not chrome BTW, but polished. They clean up real easy plus they hide the brake dust much better than my S-Lites.

The BFG KDW2s are a bit noisy but they are much better in the wet than a set of Yokohama ES100s I had on a previous car. Ride and dry grip is great as well, especially when compared to the runflats.

Bottom line: Get 'em.

The only other choice would be the Flik Wasp.

i think the ASA's are a nice choice for the budget minded.

tirerack only sells quality wheels, not wheels like ADR's and similar
where paint just chips off.

I like mine... I bent one last weekend on a pothole.. but I guess the wheels are relatively strong, otherwise this would have been worse.. Having 215/45 tires also helped....

Yeah.. and did I mention the mushroom that grew on my shock tower? ... Its not as bad as some of the pics I've seen on here but its definitely not straight anymore...

I'll probably just get a new rim...... but I'm seriously trying to figure out what 16" wheels can fit over these here JCW Brakes...

I'm the wife. I like the wheels, I picked em from Tire Rack...You have good taste. I recently changed to some SSRs though, so the ASAs are just sitting in the garage...

I have these tires on my new SSRs. I dont really recommend them. Does it rain near you? Cuz it rained here the other day and I almost flew off the road. I know how the tires handle now, but in general, they make my car sound like a jeep wrangler and are bad in rain

Not the BBS look, but black with polished lip. My Volk CE28s are pricey, but only 13.8 lbs.

I have the 17" black ASA AR-1 on my 2006 Astro Black MCS. They were
the only wheel that I considered in my price range. Good wheel, good looks
and good price. I don't think that you will be disappointed in getting them.

What would you recommend for a hi-performance wet/dry tire summer only? I thought about Yokohamas as well...or Pirellis...anyone can chime in on this one

I have them, too. They're nice wheels, and the polished lip really sets them off.

I like them. I have 17s on my MCS. My business partner had the black ones on his IS300.

I like mine. I have only had them a couple months but so far so good. They get a lot of positive comments too. On reccomendation of Tirerack, I have the Goodyear Eagle F1 D3s on them.

love the ASAs. can be a PITA to clean if you let them go for too long. Hard to beat that quality for the price. I have TOYO Proxes in the original size, and they started making noise after 10k mi despite trying to be on top of alignment. Got the TOYOs for the price and performance in wet.

Has anyone had any trouble with vibration in the steering after switching to the ASA AR1 Black wheels from the stock wheels? The reason I asked is that I am a recent onwer of a new '06 cabrio and I originally purchased brand new Flik wasp wheels from Edge Racing. I returned them. Let's just say no matter what, they could not be balanced and in fact had 2 bent rims. I am leaningtowards buying the wheel/tore pacakge from Tire Rack for the AR1 wheels.

Thanks,

let me just say that ive probably bought 10+ wheel sets from tirerack
over the years and NEVER had any issues with vibration nor any
mounting marks on the rims.

ive even bought their cheepo Fox wheels in the past as winter sets, and
even those had absolutely no issues and very durable paint and high
quality... their buyers know wat to get.

so i trust those guys. (although their packaging could improve!!!
hint hint, Alex. let's get boxes for those 19" wheels+tire that are
$1k each)

thanks for the reply. I am thinking about the ASA AR1 wheels in Black. They look sharp. But as in this threaded discussion indicates a seller as having them mounted on the 215-45-17 tires, I prefer the OE 205-45-17. I would like to know (sent Alex at tirerack an email already) if I can get these wheels in 16" size and mount my new dunlop 3000 DSST runflats on them.

I had the same questions when I purchased mine and talked to Alex, he suggested the 215/45/17 and I've have been very happy w/ them. It has a slightly bigger sidewall and fills up the wheel arches very nicely, enough that I didn't think it needed to be lowered any longer
