Looking for a minivan...
... specifically a late model minivan with front end damage and hyper blue paint on the bumper. Guy did this to my MINI before driving off: http://snipurl.com/r89i .
I was at a red light, leaned back to rest a little, and outta nowhere a bang and a huge jolt. Looked behind to see what was behind me, looked like a minivan, decided to pull off to exchange insurance info. Well, must have decided he didn't want to, 'cause when i got out he was gone. Cops showed up, wrote out a report and that was that. Fortunately all i appear to have injury wise is a strained neck. Unfortunately i gotta pay for this jerk's criminal behavior... urg. No real news yet, Patrick looked at it in the parking lot and thinks the rear axle support is bent, no news on the grinding noise coming from the rear passenger wheel. The adjuster will be out there tomorrow to take a look, and i should get an estimate by then. Oy.

Crappin! Sorry to hear about this. Glad you're okay for the most part. Be sure to keep us abreast of what the damage is and what needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the well wishes guys!
I got an estimate Friday, looks like i need a new bumper (of course), grille, shock absorber, bar, rear axle support, and muffler. $1900 so far and they haven't even gotten the bumper off. And i found out i don't have "loss of use" coverage, so no rental car. That and my adjuster is feeding me some bs line about paying for %4 of the parts. 'scuse me?
My local agent feels that's bs too, so I'll let them fight that out. And i did get looked at at a miniature ER, they said strained neck. Been dealing with back pain and neck pain, but it seems to be getting better. I'll be calling Patrick tomorrow for a progress report.

Next time i'm getting out and getting a plate number, irregardless of where the accident occurs.
So sorry to hear about this! Could you tell what make & model the minivan was? At least if it was American or Japanese? Not sure if it helps, but at least it narrows the possibilites.
Where did this happen?

It happened at the intersection of McHenry & Elmhurst road in Wheeling and ll i got description wise is a late model minivan of some sort, didn't get a really good look at all. Saw the headlights behind me, the parking lights were on the outside, didn't think to keep an eye on it when i turned right to get out of traffic, and didn't notice he was gone until i stopped and got out. Next time i'm getting the plate before anything. Live and learn i guess...
Talked to the dealer, Hermes may be done Friday. They didn't have parts so they sent him to the bodyshop first. And the doc didn't see any permanent damage, but ordered an x-ray just in case. Nuttin' new 'sides that. And seeings how this cancels St. Louis plans, i'm thinking of going up towards Lake Geneva this weekend to find some twisties insteead... if Hermes comes home Friday, of course
Well, i saw an orthopedic doc today. Had neck and back x-rays, everything looks normal. Did get a diagnosis of "minor" whiplash, and only the soft tissues are strained... so looks like about a month of PT and i'll be ok. In the meantime it'll be uncomfortable. Ah, well, could be worse. :\
Glad to hear you're ok. did they give you any good drugs for your neck
I didn't use any of the pain killers when I got hit.. I few advils and I was good to go
Let us know how Hermes turns out. So sad.. expecially after all of the stuff you got from the Pulley Party.

Well i got Hermes back. There's a few issues though:
- Exhaust rattle. Heard it when i picked him up, went away when i brought him back. Wouldn't reproduce, no matter how hard they tried (and wow can that exhaust system wiggle around)
- Bent axle support? Dealer said they saw one when they looked at him in the lot the day after the accident. Body shop people said nothing in the suspension needed touching because it aligned just fine
- Caved in Battery compartment. Noticed this when i got home. Apparently they didn't notice it, gonna call tomorrow. Makes it hard to get the "repair kit" back in place, and besides it's annoying not having him fixed all the way.
Other than that, Hermes is back to %100 and back in my garage!!!!
