According to the AAA Foundatin for Traffic Safety, it's yellow. Read this article for more...

i am the biggest fan of yellow, but i have a chili red as well

my fav yellows are acura nsx, honda s2000, ducati 748 bike, ferrari f355, and the corvette

the bmw/mini yellow seems to have a white mixed in, and imo isnt as deep and bright...

but then again its just my opinion

I'd be a bigger fan of the yellow if it was more of an AA or "road stripe" yellow instead of a buttery creamy yellow.

This makes sense as yellow has the most visible frequency of the color spectrim.

Isn't yellow also supposed to be the most psychologically distressing color? Somewhere I read that it's a bad color for a nursery, for example. Anyway I agree that it's certainly the most visible, and therefore probably the safest.

Has anybody read about that interactive car Toyota is developing? I found an article on it a few month's back, it actually changes color and facial expression(headlights) depending on the the mood of the driver!

Katiedidmini...you're kidding right??? IMHO...that's crazy!

I guess I think yellow would probably be most visable, technically speaking, but of course "safest" must be 90% good ol defensive driving, right? I hope so 'cause mine is an IB!

Good to see Ant has the whole automotive research market figured out
(back to our regularly scheduled thread...)

I would guess dark colors are more difficult to "see", sine they reflect less light (black, Indi, BRG, dark silver, velvet red), and that more relective colors would be generally easier to see (like yellow, white and pure silver). That article that Lucky13 posted said that Red was the most difficult to see in our periphery, so that's a poor choice for visibility too!

having blabbed all that, I'm getting Indi blue with white roof and wheels, so I suppoose my MINI will be both stealth and bright!

Cheers,
Ryan

Safety Orange with little warning triangles hanging off all over and a xenon strobe on top.

I think the technical term for the AAA study is "bunch of hooey".

The idea that you can separate out car color from all of the other factors involved in any accident is preposterous. Any drunk that runs a red light and crashes into another car is going to say "well I didn't see that red car."

The study is already biased because it presumes "bad drivers (young males) prefer red cars".

You might as well do a study on what color underwear is safer to wear while driving.

This is an obvious ploy by the insurance mafia to raise rates for cars that aren't of an approved color.

I chose yellow because I wanted the flash! I wanted it to stand out in a crowd.
Boy does it ever! It takes a special personality to have a yellow car. Some just
can't handle it.

Typical bias in color naming!!! Electric Blue? Ever hear of it? I can spot my MCS EB/EB from the top of the South tower of the Cologn Cathedral in a crowded lot!!

I chose yellow because it's the easiest color to keep clean. Also because the first car I bought after I left England for California was a little yellow Austin Healey, that was in 1956. That was the first car I owned and this one is most likely the last, unless I spring for an S. Ron.
