Calling all Canadian Mini owners.......

First let me say that NAM is a great place to converse with fellow mini owners, find technical info, DIYs, etc. and have meet some great people thru NAM.

But one disappointment I have is that the Canadian owners don't use the "Canada" forum all that much.

On Audiworld the "Canada" forum was as large as any other forum and what was nice is that we all shared many of the same interests.

Any comments / feedback....

I think most folks use NAM as a resource, so they go to different forums for advice/make comments about specific things.

We do get going on somethings on this forum, but we tend to be a quite bunch.

If you just want to chat about anything and everything, go to the Off-Topic forum, lots of us Canucks hang out there, and the banter is great

Hey Xiek, you're everywhere!

Anyway, Usually I just come on and read the "New Posts". Then I go over to mini2 and somc.on.ca . It's my little combo everyday, 3 times a day at least. Then I go out and motor! (and work )

It seems as if most people just go to see what are the New Posts of the day and don't really go directly to a specific forum.

I find that "Canada" is too broad of a category to really be useful as a place to hook up for drives or find somebody with something in common. Maybe a split into regions or provinces would be more helpul.

There are some club listings under the Canada forum. If one is in your area have a look.

I do get around that is true. (say what you will)

So in Toronto, on Monday morning, granted TTC strike, but only 2/13 minis waved back at me.. :( and I stuck my hand out the window and was flapping...

Sunday, a girl just stared at me and picked her nose.

Please don't let that stop you from waving! I wave feverishly at EVERY MINI I see (old, new, rusted, blinged out) and am SO hapy when I get a wave back. Please wave! If you waved at me I'd pull my finger out of my nose and wave back for sure!

When we wave, I'll make sure the bogger is gone

the waving thing never really caught on in toronto.... i'd be lucky if i get 1 in 10 cars wave back

im sure it'd be crazy in smaller cities like winnipeg (well, small compared to GTA) ...

i still remember the day when 9/10 minis wave... ah... to be back in 2003......

I always try to wave at another Mini, but there's just so many in Vancouver that I sometimes miss a few. If the other guy doesn't wave back.......c'est la vie!

Here Montreal, we usually don't wave, rather we flash the high beams at the other mini drivers.

Never been flashed!

Had the odd wave but no flashes. (strange... you'd think the flashers would be the odd ones). LOL!

I usually do the "flash, wave, thumbs up out the window" here in WIndsor and almost always get a response back! Maybe they are too embarrassed by my antics to not respond.

I wave. I don't flash much because on a highway (or road), if you flash your headlights, to the non-MINI owner, it means a number of other things.

1. you're telling an 18-wheeler it's safe to merge in in front of you.
2. speed check not far in front of you
3. you're pissed off at somebody who just cut you off. Note that 1 and 3 are contradictory.

Since my flashing of headlights can be construed as something else, I don't flash my headlights at other MINIs. But I do wave. I got a big smile and a very enthusiastic wave back from a very nice looking young lady in a Chili Red with bonnet striped MCS a few days ago.

But as MINIs are becoming more and more common in the larger metro areas, few are interested in the Mini culture.

Actually, I let my MINI wave using the power folding mirrors on/off. Gets a smile from other MINI owners all the time

I wave to MINI's and classic Mini's, thumbs up, and usually get a smile but hey what do you expect, I'm driving an 02' Honda Civic. The folding mirror thing is pretty cool. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but she's known that for a long time now...so I'll keep doing it and expect better results when we get a MINI.
