Another small run...Reno and Carson area?

Yo Lisa and Glen ...and everyone else!

Had an idea for a pretty nice run...maybe to Virginia City? From the Reno end, the road up is a great ride...lots of twists and turns on the upgrade...Carson roads are cool too!

The only problem would be all the tourists once we get up there! <YEAH...BUT A TRAIN OF MINI'S WOULD FREAK THEM OUT!> AND WE COULD ALL MEET AT THE FUDGE FACTORY!

WHat do you all think?

Regards,
jeff

Sounds like fun! This time I'll call in well to work. I've been thinking about driving up there anyway, but with a pack of mini's it would be more fun. The way down we should go out 7-mile canyon...I think that's what it's called. Very twisty!

7-mile canyon.... That sounds interesting. When are you guys going to do this run? Should be up in the Tahoe area for a family gig in June... I may just have to climb the hill and catch up with you guys!

Yeah! I can't wait! I'm going to get that day off so I can join in on the fun. That will be a long run, so that will help me get Sanchez broken-in.

Went to REI but they didn't have 303. They had something else that sounds just like it...so I bought it. It's called UV TECH by McNETT. Has anyone heard of this? I'll try it in a not so visible area.

Also bought a big jug of McGuires because I figure I'll be using a lot of car wash...I have to keep up with all you clean freaks!

gez wiz (or Gee Giz!)...

I had no idea...Maybe a career in Mind reading (which I gave up a few years ago is back in the cards!!!)

Mr. Wine...do not forget iniation dues <just kidding!>

It sounded good as I was thinking about it....Can you imagine the tourists...

Gold Countty MINI....Hope you can make it...although I have no idea what condition or construction is going on up there...STILL SUGGEST, WE BLOCK OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND DO AN ITALIAN JOB ON THE FUDGE FACTORY! They could try to chase us with those old fire trucks! Heck, they may even have an old MAYBERRY type chase car!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
OT:
BTW: was invited to check out an old storage shed here the other day...had a 1934 and 1936 caddy in it!!!! Just like from the showroom, all original but covered in layers of dust! Even the tires were still in good shape...anyone remember those W-I-D-E whitewalls? These autos had rumble seats in leather, chromed Bullet headlamps, and all the rest...

I have a shot at putting them up on ebay for a good sized cut (for me)once I check title, if they run etc! Should fetch a bit eh? Hell, even the License plates are cool and collectible!

I think the owner died a long time ago and no one knew they were in there!

REGARDS TO ALL

Sorry Glenn..

My typing is so bad (Hunt & Peck), It looks like I missed spelling 101!
<I minored in English in college too!)

Sometimes when I go in to edit...I hit the wrong key and ....DOUBLE POST by error! I have seen this board format in other forums I belong too and some of them have spell checkers?

Hi Gold Country Mini...
You might want to Skip Reno city proper and have lunch somewhere else!

Downtown has been and still is a total disaster.(the rest of the town is under the mallet as well...ALL year this time! detours, holes, rocks, no parking, (digging the train trench to take amtrak undergrond...which is done...they just keep screwing around!) Not that it is pretty anyway! Locals will not go downtown! I have been here 30yrs and am not used to traffic....!

I might suggest Jonn Asquagas Nugget since their Buffet is excellent )I mean excelante!!! and it is just a few miles further east of downtown in Sparks just off I-80.

If you want to go where the locals go...give me a PM jingle Just let me know budget and what you are after...If it is just a burger stop...In and Out Burgers is also near the Nugget and has good burgers!

Regards
jeff

Gizzer777, if you do not wish to have lunch with our group that's fine but this is a group ride and that means we do the run and lunch together. Quit with all the BS about construction. We have it all planned where we will be eating and it's not downtown. Glenn

Here is my point about the last post. At this time of the year no matter where you drive you WILL encounter construction. So lets just enjoy the time we have behind the wheel. Lets do our runs together, gather together for meals and Motor On. I had to pass 3 road crews just in the 35 mile drive home today. That is how it is after the winter months. They have less then 6 mo. to clean up from our severe winter months in the Sierra/High desert. G........Tad knows all about Reno/Tahoe..he comes up this way often..Want to know about Sacramento.. Ask Tad.....

oh you silly boys and your toys!!!!! Now just listen to the women who hold reins..........I mailed 17 newsletters out monday evening. The sad thing is that everyone won't show so next time I will be choosey who I mail out to. My son says he will post it on our site as upcoming events but he just got his first dirt bike so I don't expect to see him for a few months.I;ll try to grab him as he rides by.........I got my windows tinted!!!!!!!!!! I'm jellin' and my roof design should be done by June 23 run. Hope I win something, it will be an original as I designed it and Grease will paint it.Oh I love my mini.........When we do a run we try to stop somewhere where I can update everyone on stuff NOT mentioned in the newsletter, trade shop stories and product info.share funny stories too. We don't drink (alcohol)when we stop and try to make it reasonably priced for everyone.I try to do runs on sundays as some minis work on sat.I take everyone's suggestions and put runs together but am always open to change.Sometimes we change the route or meeting place at the last minute when we meet.We are easy going happy minis.GoldCountry can e mail me personally and I will get him on the newsletter list.Anyone eles??????Let me know, Lisa

I have been told that Six Mile Canyon Road (from Virginia City to Dayton) is still closed. Can anyone confirm that? It is a great road for a portion of the MINI run, but not if we need a bulldozer in front of us to get through.

Reno is really trying and doing a good job of cleaning up downtown... Reno has grown so much over the last few years... Keep me posted on the details of the run... Hopefully we'll have our cabrio when in tme for this run! Should be in mid-june...

Hello:

For locals (been here 30yrs)...downtown is a major sorespot (needed to explain myself) and that is why we do not support it.

The train trench was informally voted down by a large margin and built anyway (5 families control Reno!) ....causing financial hardship to many casino owners I know. Thus my remarks and I really did mean well...so case closed from my end...What is past passed!

Actually the MAJOR retail and new casino growth is South of town and has local support! Being an insider in the Gaming Business I have 1st hand knowledge of what is coming....It has been tough on residents when they try to build casinos in their back yards!

I led a fight to stop one where I live (they just up and change the master plan...$$ talks)...still can't believe we beat it (and again...I was in the business...luckily for me events happened to permit me to get out!)

regards and apologies to MISS Wine again!

One day I will be able to remove that foot from my mouth!!!!

Don't worry about it! I know it must be hard for you to imagine another girl joining the club...but I do love my MINI.

Regarding the run: It completely slipped my mind, but I absolutely have to be at work on June 10. We are having Ribs and Zins at Whispering Vine. There's going to be quite a few people there, BJ's barbeque and over 200 Zins. I'm sorry I can't make it. Maybe I can cruise down and meet you all before work.

Maybe we could have a "mini" MINI run some other time, or just meet somewhere to actually meet each other and socialize. Sounds like the south end of town would be a good meeting spot for everyone. Why not get together at Bully's sometime?

I'll try to meet you guys on the 10th, bright and early.
