How long to get production #...

I just ordered my MCS Sunday and was told it went "into the system" that same day but I have yet to get a production number. How long does this take normally? I am really anxious and don't want to be a PITA but DAMMIT I WANT MY PRODUCTION NUMBER!!! I am new to this and would really like some info on the process. I was told I was looking at a late July/early August delivery date. Any help/info would be much appreciated!

Gratz on your order. I ordered mine on 05/06/06 and was entered into the system with a number on 05/08/08 and my order still shows as pending, no production date. I'm not sure that having all this tracking is such a great thing given that it takes so long but here's a couple links you might like that will help you follow through the process:

http://motoringfile.com/2005/05/13/m...ine/#more-4175

and:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...q_tracking_usa

And you can while away your hours, days, weeks, months reading up on this forum and a variety of others. Not to mention all the aftermarket sites where I think if I ordered everything I liked I'd have doubled the price of the car so far.

My car was ordered on 4/15 and I received the production number from my MA on 4/22 (it might have been ready before that time). It went into production around 4/26 according to OL.

Based on posts, those ordering in California may have a bit of a wait to get their production number. I ordered mine on a Saturday and my MA emailed me my production number on Monday. I've seen others wait many weeks to get theirs. I think your MA should have a good idea of how long it should be. El Kabong arrived 6weeks and 3 days after order.

We just ordered a our second MINI, a cabrio, from Niello MINI... it took about 2-3 days before we had a production number. Where did you order from?

another tracking thread

Our second MINI is already completed, order 04/20 and is waiting for a boat to bring it across the pond!

hhhmm. interesting. Im in such a cramped spot cause I need to sell my MC to get the MCSc but if I sell it too early, then I wont have a car and if I dont sell it intime, I dont want the car to sit on the lot for others to test drive before i can sell this sucker

Good point... we're in the same situtation... we have an 04 Nissan Murano that we're getting rid of to get the MCSC... anyone want it?

You can think about carmax to get rid of the Cooper... also, the dealer may give you a decent deal on the trade in since it's a MINI dealer as well! Depends on the dealer I guess, but Niello MA let us know that they give a pretty good return if you trade in another MINI... Hope that helps.

This is our second MINI from Niello...

I got my production number about a week after I placed my order with Long Beach MINI. Got the number on 4/27/06. The OL says it's still on order, not in production yet, so I can't even start counting the days!

Don't worry. Your dealer gave you one of their existing production allocations. The specs will change to your specs soon. Keep calling ASK MINI or your MA to get your build date, that will determine the prod week. It can take a few days between getting the production number and getting your build date.

The first 2 days mine said 'Chilie Red" and mine is a 'Pepper White", on the 3rd day it was right. If you view the soucres code of the tracking page on the owners lounge, there is a copule of lines with the complete order, including the VIN#. I don't why it does not show up in the 'Review Order' window, it there.

Very cool, never thought to check the source onthat page, figured Flash kept all the stuff hidden. I suppose the good news is that the order appears correct. Doesn't list a VIN or a build date though. What's anyone else's experience in time from a production number to a build

Thanks for the info everyone. I checked and the color is right now but the code isn't there yet so I guess I'll keep checking. I am going to try to limit myself to 15 times a day.

I've also checked the review order and it's blank so I guess they are still working on things.

Know what's funny... my hubby left for a 1 year deployment to the Persian Gulf in December and should be coming home for two weeks around the time my MINI is supposed to arrive at my dealer and I'm having a tough time deciding which I am more excited about! Does that make me a bad wife?
