I will be there this time Glenn...thought Lisa sent out a news letter giving the details...Reno at Krispy Kreme again (yum...what could be better). Ordered in a clear paint bonnet protector, since the rocks on I-80 are killing me! Big time bugs too going over the hill! Hopefully I will have it for the trip!

Next time I get stopped by a cop...maybe I will ask him/her

Glenn...can all FRS Radios (different brands (like Cobra) talk onthe same Freq together ?
Great deal at Walmart on a pair of Cobras...$20! Probably will pick up a pair!
Jeff
Brand does not matter, just as long as they are FRS. However the cheaper ones may not have as good sound quality and may not have all the sub channels . I have a set of Motorola T7400R GMRS/FRS with a 12mile range that work great. A little larger but seem the have better audio, the extra range helps as well. I also have a headset that works even better. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to hear with windows down. Check out http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html...F8&node=172654 for pricing.
Thanks Willum

Might give em a shot anyway and they do have the same channels and sub channels that the motorolas have + security codes...I would only be using them for the Mini get togethers so I didn't want to spend a ton....rather spend it on the mini and custom bonnets for my head!!!!

Weather forecast seems to be going downhimm fast for sat...

5-19 Update - got a nice Motorola T6530XLR set at Costco! The new ones with NOAA weather radio (10 mi range...sure they rate then line of site on flat ground with no obstructions and that is only for the GMRS band...FRS is always limited...I do not feel like going thru the FCC for a GMRS License!) - $50! Nice thing about the "club" pkgs is that they come with stras.NIMH batteries and 2 sets of Earbuds Ivox etc! We will see since Costco has a great return policy!

It's just weather. I spent 6 months waiting to drive my Mini after all the snow we had in Tahoe. DO NOT let it stop you from joining us on Saturday.A little rain is OK with me. Glenn

TT
Thought you might make it. Oh well. For you Truckee members, we will be stopping at the Donner summit rest stop around 8:30 for a quick stretch. So if you want to meet us at the West bound parking area and save a trip into Reno that might work for you. Glenn
