MC + Magnaflow 15741
It doesn't actually look as "coffee can" as you think. As we all know, the camera adds 10 pounds to a muffler. Tone is definitely deep and it is LOUD. I mean, loud enough to drown out my K&N intake. However, at around 4500 rpms they kind of harmonize in a wicked way (a good wicked). Great "burble" when you back off the gas too, especially in 1st gear. Install is pretty easy once you get the old bolts off.
Be sure to read Octane Guy's how-to. I think he did a Remus, but the procedure is pretty much the same for the Magnaflow.

Here are a few pics from after my install. when i was picking i couldnt decide but then an awesome price for the magnaflow came up and i couldnt be happier.
the sound is awesome, i will make a clip rite now, you do get some drone on the highway but nothing that the radio or creative cargo packing cant cure. but for a run through the twisties i love putting the rear seats down and letting in the lovely sound. btw that first gear thing that was mentioned is sooooo much fun. in first gear go up to 3000rpm then let off *BOOM cracklecracklecrackle*
contrayary (i know i am bad and speeling
) to my perception i havent gotten any complaints and when i took it in for service i noticed the dealer carried borla parts
and asked me how hard the install was. (it was really easy just an hour or two tops) the rubber hanger bits (for lack of better term are a bit tricky but that is about it)

hi again,
here is my video
i made it just now (the time between my posts) so it kinda sux but i will try and make a better one soonish (complete with a bit of in-car-banter that i didnt have time to take out), i just thought if i didnt start now, i never would
it is all in car from MOTD this year (a blast incase anyone couldnt make it) highly reccomendded
i will try and get some out-of-car footage this weekend cuz there is a difference in sound, but hopefully this will wet y'alls appetite ....

hmm... i am having probs uploading i will put it on a site and link to it

Just to satisfy my curiosity I did a bit of searching for details on this system - please explain this one if you can. Some sites say the pipe diameter is 2.25", while others say it's 2.5".....to confuse things more, a couple sites I visited show it as 2.25"/2.5".....huh?

imho, and i am no exhaust engineer, i think 2.5" is a bit too big for the cooper, i think it is better to gain power/release backpressure through a more free flowing resonator than increasing the pipe diameter cuz i think you need to keep it resonable small to keep the gas speeds up. but that is just me...

I think you're right about 2.5 being a bit much for the Cooper. In fact, I've noticed that most of the European aftermarket exhausts for the Cooper are just 2" - same as stock.
hmm... the only thought i have is that they might be refering to the inner and outer diameter, but then 1/4 inch seems a bit thick for a exhaust pipe wall...
before i go out again i will take a tape measure with me and get a rough guess-timate

I think it's more likely they're mixing words from the S and non-S systems, but who knows.....it certainly doesn't explain the disparity of info on different sites or the use of 2.25"/2.5" (whatever that means) on two or three sites I visited. It's definitely not an in/out diameter, that I'm sure of.
yeah i have seen lots of vendors cutting and pasting product descriptions and that does make a lot more sense than using .25" thick pipes
i am going out later today and will diffenately get some kind of measurement

I havent had to use it, but i remember a while back someone with an S did and they got a completely new system hassle free
that is all i can remember i dunno why they needed a new onefrom what i have seen of mine the quality looks solid
If you liked that clip wait till i get my out-car one done

so i couldn't really get anything accurate...but according to magnaflow's site it is 2.25 and i figure they have a good idea what they make
however on the S they list 2.25/2.5 i think this reffers to the difference in diameter where the exhaust is one pipe and where it goes to dual. i figure it is 2.5 then spilts into 2 2.25 pipes. but that is just a guess.....the mystery grows deeper
The Manganflow for the non-S is 2.25" pipe. Just be sure loud is what you want. Mated with a BMP intake and a Milltek header, a trip from LA to San Francisco leaves me pretty much deaf;-)
