I know this topic is posted often, but I having a dilema on choosing the right tire and the correct size for replacing my run-flats. I own 2 sets of 16 inch MINI rims and tires. Winter is the R83 (?) five-spoke sport pkg rim with the Goodyear NCT run-flats. Summer is the R94 (?) "x-lites" standard MCS rim with the Dunlop DSST run-flats.

First and foremost, someone PLEASE tell me the best size for both these rims. I know the standard tire size is 195/55-16, so what is the best size for non run-flats. 205/50-16, 205/55-16 or 215/50-16???? Help, please! I have good idea what tire I want, but I want the look of the run flats in a non run flat tire. I hope that doesn't sound wierd. Any info is greatly appreciated. Cheers!

 

here is some info that will be helpul

In order to calculate overall tire diameter, you only need the size of the tire

205/50/16
[(205x0.5 x 2) / 25.4] +16= 24.07"

215/50/16
[(215x0.5 x 2) / 25.4] +16= 24.46"

Now compare to the factory 195/55/16

[(195x0.55 x 2) / 25.4] +16= 24.44"

I will recommend the 215/50 as it is closer to the factory size

i run 205/50/16's

 

195/55-16 for winter tires (there are actually quite a few choices in this size).

205/50-16 for summer tires.
