R50/53 What to do with $500?
All these modification threads - my head is spinning!
Got $500 MAD money to take care of my MCS. What to do?
Intake?
Aftermarket roof flag?
S t r e t c h the budget and do an exhaust?
Pulley?
SO, what am I after? Value. If a performance mod isn't going to kick in until I hit 90mph, it's not worth it - unless is makes the car look or sound cool. If a roof flag is going to peel off the first time I wash the car, it's not worth it. If th pulley is going to make the motor or supercharger overheat, it's not wirth it.
So where's the $500 best spent?

I would save it plus a hold lot more so that I could purchase the JCW upgrade.
IMHO

*** I vote for a very fine looking leather jacket for the driver!!! and perhaps some designer sunglasse!!!! ***
if you insist on spending it on the MINI, then I vote for $10 per week for a year toward the best car wash you can get so she always looks her best.
or an extra $10 per week in gas so you can motor more!!!

There are so many variables!
What is your most important factor? Looks, power, sound, cool factor, handling, attracting the opposite sex...
The options are just about limitless.
Here are a few recommendations:
swaybar $190 plus an hour or so of labor
tires (Yokohama or Kuhmo) less than $400 mounted
intake $239 plus 20 minutes of labor
Magnaflow $599 plus 1 hour or so of labor
A MINI you can't stop taking the look back at in the parking lot when you leave it... priceless.
Let me know what other questions you have, I'd be happy to help.

>>I have heard Driving school is money well spent.
I like my self taught school.
Recepie:
Read 3-5 Books by different styled drivers on how to race. This helps give you a more broad background on the concepts.
Watch lots of formula 1, to inspire!
Do not watch too much NASCAR, the ratio of left turns to right turns is wack! and besides, who in their right mind would race a tarus? (SHO excluded, ...barely)
Develop a basic understanding of mechanical physics (f=ma, d=rt, and the one that has mue (u) sub k and mue sub s aka coeficients of friction, static and kinetic.
Drive a lot, and practice! I still like the ease and squeeze for gas and brake.

Save it and get up to $1000.00 then get a intake, tires and rims and a full tank of fuel.
