Just trying to get a feeling for everyone's favorite programmable feature for the Mini. I'm taking my S in tomarrow for several reasons.
1. Coolant leak
2. Did I see sediment in coolant tank?
3. Squeeky brake on occasion, (stops on a dime though.)
4 Add a programmable feature ( currently have none except door lock/unlock and boot release.

What are the other programmable features involving key and / or key lock? Window/ sunroof opening with key? what else?.....just looking for help, suggestions, comments...thanks all.

His, Chile Red all over / Hers, EB UJ on top.

I like the Daytime Running Lights, Auto door locking at about 10mph, Follow-me Home lights.

Here's a good resource of what you should take with you. This printout list might not be exact but it might help your service advisor:

I love the programmable feature that unlocks the doors when you turn the car off

I had them disable all of the paranoia functions:

Now a single press of the remote unlocks everything (Selective CL RC -- not active)
and everything remains unlocked forever (Automatic locking after starting off -- not active.)

I find this combination to be my favorite feature(s). It's so nice to have everything available at all times. Say, when I have an armfull of duct tape and plastic sheeting, I can just reach over and open the boot to throw it in. Or say I'm driving down the street and get scared, I can just jump out, run to the boot and grab a roll of duct tape.

The keyhole in the driver's door still unlocks only that door (Selective central locking -- active), so whenever the terror alert is orange or red, I just use the key and I'm fully protected!

I found you have to be fairly close to the car to use the comfort open feature. Close as in within two or three parking spots. So by the time I'm on the third click and press, I'm already at the car reaching for the door. Do I have a defective key/remote? BTW, it's only 12 days old.

Currently programmed features on my 2002 MCS August build:

-Convenience Open w/key remote
-Auto lock at 10mph
-"Follow Me Home" Headlamps (90 seconds)
-Speed Sensitive Wipers
-Selective locking w/key remote
-Euro parking lights (lights only one side of the car's parking lights by using the turn signal indicator with car off, very cool and uncommon feature)

Wants:
-Low fuel chime

I gather you have an older MINI. When I got my MINI a few weeks back, very few choices were add-ons- most came automatically- you'd have to get them disabled NOT to have them. I didn't opt for the automatic daytime driving lights- as I like being in charge of turning those on or off. I like ALL the others- a better question, now that you have the list: which ones WOULDN"T you want? I can hardly wait for hot weather to use the comfort opening (windows and sunroof)- should make a big difference on a 90 degree plus day. I love the auto lock-unlock, the follow-me-home lights, etc. Get 'em all- make your MINI all that it can be!! By the way, Dominicminicoopers, sounds like you DO have a bad remote if you have to be that close for comfort opening. I can open my sunroof and windows from across a wide street or further.

Vespa - I keep the duck tape in the glove box so it's right handy in an emergency!!!

Dominic: I only press the remote once to rool the windows down. Why are you pressing three times? Also, maybe your other key has better range?

my mini has all these programmable features, and i love them

however mine doesnt have the "unlock" when engine turned off! can i go get that done? will they charge me? how does that work

mine also doesnt have the "rain sensing wipers" i thought that was an extra $$ option, and not just a programmable feature. can someone enlighten me on these two things?

i find it really annoying, when i come home, stop the car, and since its locked, have to pull the door lock twice to open it
