How does MINI decide which tires to put on your car?

Is there any particular rhyme or reason to which of the run-flats that MINI will put on your car?

I'm getting the summer performance tires on the R98's, but wondering whether that's the dunlop, goodyear, or... ?

If they're all season, they'll be Dunlop, for the summer performance either Goodyear or Pirelli. Not sure if they're using Pirelli any more though. It's mainly a matter of economics, which tire company will give the factory the best price.

I just got my 06 MC and I have Goodyear perf. runflats. I have not seen or heard of any Pirelli's in a while.

goodyear performance or all-season?

from the places I've looked i've seen the Dunlops and Pirellis as the summer performance, and the goodyear as performance all-season:

am I wrong?

The goodyears are the all-season RFs. The other two are the "Performance" runflats. The only other RF thats a possibility aftermarket are Bridgestone 050s which are second gen RFs.

Unless you have a full-size spare packed into your new MINI as you take your long roadtrip home, I suggest keeping the runflats on until you arrive home.

As for being junk, I just got 30,000 miles on my second set of Dunlop SP Sport 5000A DSST Ultra High Performance All-Seasons, which I replaced last week. I love them! I do too much solo cross-country driving to NOT have runflats. They are right for me.

30K and counting on my Goodyear RFs! I am a single-car household , and I like the peace of mind that comes with the runflats.

Although I currently have a can of fix-a-flat in my car, that's what I was thinking...
