Door reflectors flying off!

Ok, I'm not sure if this is stinctly a "detailing" questiono, but here goes...

I have an 03 MCS and it has little round reflectors on the inside of the doors. I assume everyone has 'em, but I haven't seen any other MINI's.

Anyway... Mine keep coming off. I stick 'em back on, but they don't stay. I suppose I could glue 'em, but I was hoping for another tip.

Am I the only one with this problem?

If the tabs on the reflectors are cracked, they'll just continue to fall off until replaced with new ones. This is a common problem after door panels have been removed because the reflector has to be pried off to reach one of the panel screws. And the door panels have to be removed frequently to service the unreliable window motors.

The reflectors are available in red or white.

Bummer.... I guess glueing them on will make it kind of tough to get the door panels off, huh?

Depends; silicone is really soft but then you'd probably see it through the clear reflector. Have no idea what new ones cost since mine were replaced under warranty after the MINI tech broke them, but RealOEM.com lists the '02-'04 white ones as #51417067171.

Don't glue them directly to the door panel... You'll have a hard time removing them and could damage your door panel.

And you need to take them off if you have to remove the door panel...If you are still covered by the warranty, get them replaced. If not, buy some new ones, it's cheap and worth the extra $$$...

My MINI dealer, back in Montreal, broke one 3 years ago, and tried to hide it by using glue to stick it back... I complained and got them to buy a new one.
