I want to install one of those pioneer head units with dvd, but I have the harmon kardon system. Anyone know if this will affect the nav voice at all?

You can not exchange the factory radio with a aftermarket because,

On the factory radio you have some features that you need to control the sound of the H/K audio.
But if you don't wan't to use them you can exchange them.
Maybe it is wiser to have a separate dvd player in the boot???

I personally don't know....but it may be possbile. take it to a local car audio speciality shop and see what they can do for you. last week i went with my friend to get his sound system installed and some guy was there getting his h2 rigged up with a alpine fold out screen and his car had navigation. i talked with the owner and he told me that he was told it couldn't be done, but he soon found out that it is possible. now-a-days pretty much anything is possible when it comes to cars.

acutally....there are aftermarket head units out there that have the same features that you need to control the HK system.....maybe you haven't been looking hard enough

there are adapters out there, but, in my opinion, its not worth the effort.

leave it alone, you sound quality will only hurt the quality if you start changing single parts out of the system.

yeah, i wasn't really planning on doing the upgrade as i figured it would be a pain in the rear. i was mostly curious for research purposes only. i had an audi a4 with the bose system a few years ago and the same thing with it- forget about any aftermarket upgrades. everything is so intertwined with one another that you are better off leaving it alone.

i do love my system though and find it puts out more power than my ears should withstand
