Supercharger Wear
Hi everyone. I'll be receiving my S in a few weeks. I was wondering about the durability and replacement of the supercharger. Has anyone had to replace due to everyday wear and tear. And if so at what mileage and cost? Are there any Cooper S's over 100,000 miles? Just curious. Thanx!
The Guy to ask is called Pilgrim aka Doug over on Sunshineminis
He has well over 150K by now.
I went through one Super Charger after 37K miles but I drove my car at very high speeds for hours at time in sub zero temps. I think this had a serious effect on the life of the SC.

A few have had issues...
But not tons. The Eaton site claims a 100k life, but I'd bet it can go longer. If you get it re-worked before it goes, you can have the sealed lube changed, and the bearings as well. but this costs more than getting a take off from a JCW conversion off e-Bay. I got one for $310 shipped, with under 50 miles.
I wouldn't worry here. But you're taking everything off the front of the motor to change it out.
