I assume this is covered elsewhere, but it seems to be buried.

What's the convoy situation looking like for those that are coming from the West. There are a few of us in the Nebraska area coming, and I would like to meet up with others. Probably go from Omaha to St Louis to Lousiville and so on...

Any thoughts?

 

I think it depends on the day you are travelling too, what day are you looking at to go to the Dragon? We are leaving on Wednesday the 3rd but we are taking an RV and pulling Gunner behind, then staying at the camp grounds while we are there. If there is anyone travelling on Wednesday we will be leaving St. Louis around 0700 and we would welcome anyone who would like to tag along. We have to go into the Dragon via 40, 74, to 28 through Asheville, long way around but with a 36' vehicle that is the route for us.

The Great Denver to KC to StL to Dragon Caravan has the following agenda. We would LOVE to have you join us, meet up, cross paths, whatever:

• 1 vehicle coming from CA arriving Denver Tuesday, May 2
• 2 addl vehicles leaving Denver 5 pm Tuesday, May 2 to Hays, KS
• Lv Hays, KS Wednesday, 7 am to Shawnee Mission, KS and Baron MINI, arrive est 12:30 pm Central
• Meet and Greet at Baron w/ Gabe et al, leave est 2 pm eastbound to StL MO, meetup with StL MINI folks. Overnight in StL.
• Thursday, May 4 6 am head out for the Dragon, eastbound I-64 / 57 / 24 / 40 thru Nashville to Maryville, then the Dragon.
• Arrive Fontana etc 4:30 pm Eastern based on last year's timing
• Then have fun.

James from NE is joining us in KC, as are other KC folks. Please let us know if you can meet us at Baron just after NOON on Wednesday, and continue from there.

Sounds like a plan, Jonathan We're leaving St Louis on Saturday April 29th Getting an early start with a leisurely drive South & East on some backroad twisties hopefully with Sunnie's top down

I am staying with Doug and Donna on Wed night, then the other CO, CA and NE folks will stay nearby. Out early, hopefully with a large, large group. May pick up 4-5 in KC on the way.

Judging from the RSVP numbers, the Dragon is getting WAY big. I expect to see some comments on that, tho with the looser ride scheduling arrangements, there may not be that many bottlenecks. It should not be a problem finding a group to ride with, as I did last year.

I do have some things set with the CarNut Garage folks again this year, they have been fun.

I'm heading from Dallas to Nashville on Wednesday.

Even more importantly (and more fun) will be the drive from Chatanooga, TN to Fontana Village on Thursday. We are meeting some of the Houston MINIs at 10:30am at a McDonalds near Cleveland, TN. From there we go across a great twisty road to Ducktown, up to Tellico Plains, across the Cherohala Skyway to Robbinsville and then up to Fontana.

We would love to have some more folks with us! Anyone wanna come along?
