Greetings. I am thinking about rally lights for my Mini. After reading several posts on the subject I was thinking about PIAA lights over the OEM ones. I have a few friends with them on other model cars and they love them. My question is what model did you install? I was thinking about the 520 SMR Series. Do the included brackets fit on the Mini grill without too much trouble? These are independent of the high beams I believe.

Also does anyone with Xenons have rally lights?? If so would you install them again if you hade to do it over again? I am concerned that the light from the rally lights might be blended out by the xenon lights.

Thanks in advance.

I am planning on getting rally lights and have Xenons as well. Like hamster, I am interested in any feedback to the combo.

Thanks

As I understand it the Rally Lights are best used in conjunction with high beams. I have read that when using high beams you are not using your xenon lights.

In most cars, the computer switches off the fog lights when you turn on the high beams - I'm not sure if this is true in the MINI. I think most of us know how soupy fog looks under high beams. Maybe you could talk to the MINI dealership and see if it's a dealer-modifiable program, like the unlock acknowledgement or the "follow me home lights"

RCristiano You are correct about the fog lights - they only work with the low beams. However, D_Hamster is asking about the Driving lights that are mounted on the grill.

RCristiano,
The rally lights (driving lights) are the opposite of fogs and come on when you turn on your highs. I assume there is no ill effects, but do not know if they add any.

I like the looks (especially on my PS) but not sure if I want to pay the price if they do not help.

I have dealer installed OEM driving lights. I didn't want to have just anyone (especially me) start drilling or riveting into my new baby, so I decided to have the dealer do it. I'M THRILLED. They look and work great on back roads, turnpike, etc.
The only thing I don't like is the black covers, need to get IB to match the car.

Do you have any specs on the dealer installed driving lights? We've been unable to get any information from our dealer (not reassuring!) about what the lights are or how far down the road they reach. Any feedback on the pros and cons of what the dealers install versus others on the market?
