What benefits will I see by adding a strut bar?

What benefits would I see on a MCS with the stock suspension and also if I added a H-Sport rear sway bar?

Thanks

Strut bar is more a "bling" factor than a suspension improvement. Some bars, however, do provide some protection from mushroming (m7).

The sway bar, on the other hand, will give you one of the most noticible suspension improvements for the least $.

Put your money towards the rear bar, forget about the strut tower bar.

Envy and admiration of your peers. Well, not really, but it looks good.

I haven't installed mine on my MCS yet, but on my other car I found that it tightened up steering and gave better feedback w/ slight improvement on turn in. every car chasis is different, but those are things you might see on a Mini

Not the most bang for the buck, but if it helps keep the mushrooms at bay that's pretty darned good. Also if you look at the front of your car with the hood up you'll see it's shaped like a U. Putting that brace across there does add strength & tighten up the structure. For me it's a good mod. Your mileage may vary.

Edit >>> I don't have a strut bar on the MINI yet. I have ordered an M7 from worldoneperformace through their group buy. Eagerly awaiting delivery. I do have a strut brace on my Miata. Boy if you call it a strut brace on that forum 20 folks will pile on & tell you "The Miata doesn't have struts". Anyway it really made a difference on that car.

Not all strut bars are created equal; I believe non-hinge type strut bars are much better. That written, the Mini's engine makes a pretty nice brace itself - it sits between both strut towers and actually braces to both.

The M7 bar looks quite nice at $150.00 and is hingeless. I wouldn't make it my first mod...it would be one of those final touch type things.

Gotta agree with Meb here. My wife gave me a front and rear strut bar set for Valentines. Mine came from Mini Mania. I wanted them more for bling! I would stay away from these as not only are they not overly functional but the flange itslef is maybe 1/8 to 3/16 thick which is not very much as far as looking for protection from mushrooming. I am going to CNC myself a new set to beef them up a little. Kepp in mind a lot of bars (mine included) rub on the hood insulation making it a chore to close the bonnet.

Also FYI if your considering a rear strut bar it will probably be the Pilo one. This products makes you back seats sit farther forward as they modified the bracket. I am working on a fix at work to correct this.
