RUN Reminder for Satuday March 11th
RUN Reminder for Satuday March 11th
Meet up in Woodside. Cruise into the hills. Hit the coast. More info and sign up on our web site. For those that are not yet members, Yes you are welcome to come along.
More details, please. I haven't been able to get onto www.norcalminis.com for the last 2 days. Keep getting a server error. Thanks.
I am planning to go but also have been getting the server error as well. It would help if the details were posted here, like the meeting time and which parking lot in Woodside. Or if people are meeting in East Bay and driving over a time and place would be good to know.
Have you driven this route, Woodside Rd, recently? If not be careful. There is an awfull bump west of the Big Red barn located west of Loma Mar ( The little town located on HWY35) . The barn is on the right side of the road. About a 1/3 of mile further down the road there is an easily negotiated bump that drops you 6". 200feet later, and around a bend, the real bump occurs. If you do not gear down to first and take the gap to the right you will in all likelyhood leave a parts of the undeside of your car there. 300feet ahead is another bump, actualy a 20foot section of the road is slowly sliding away. Expect a four inch drop. The slide is on the right and covers half of the west bound lane. I hope this helps as I would hate to see someone damage thier Mini here. Um, yeah I drove that road today on my way home and yes Cal-Trans has it posted but hasn't taken any further action in over two months.
Your Truely.

Meet up info
Meet behind the Pioneer Hotel and Saloon at 2925 Woodside Rd. in Woodside at 9am (just west of hwy 280). Other meet ups on the way there at 715am at the Starbucks on Yosemite in Manteca and at Eastbay Mini in Pleasanton at 8am. Bring your radios. I'll also have the club cell 510-919-8889. We will head into the coastal hills from there. Route will be fine tuned for weather related road conditions.
I won't be able to make it as I work Saturdays, but thought you might want a little update. If you are planning on getting lunch in Davenport, there is only one place open to eat at. The Cash Store is closed for renovating and the little Mexican place isn't there anymore. Just a heads up, you may want to bring along something to eat!

I was planning on making this run this Saturday and meeting the NorCal MINIs club. We just picked up our MCS JCW last week and are busy getting mileage. The wife hasn't been introduced to these back roads, so this should be fun!
Are there any other places on the planned route to grab some lunch?
Look forward to meeting you all soon.
Cheers!

Places to eat...
Gazos Cafe is a 4 miles south of Pidgeon Point Light house on 1.
There are a few places in Pescadero. Duarts is a sit down place (Good boody marys, great pie!) Accross the street is a sandwich shop that has outdoor tables.
You can get burgers at Applejacks in La Honda. (I think, it's been a while).
There's food at Alice's Restausrant at Skyline and LaHonda Rd (near where I live!) FWIW, they have live accustic music every Thursday night.
There's lots in Half-Moon Bay.
Hope this helps,
Matt
ps, sorry I won't be able to join. Mustang stuff on Sat!

Hi all,
I'm a new (relatively) mini owner and a new NorCal Minis Member. I've signed up for the run on Saturday and unless it's raining buckets I'll be there. Some quick questions: I noticed that there were some prerequisites(?) for the run, like a "full tank of gas" (this I understand
), but there was some mention of a "radio." What kind of radio? 2-way? CB? HAM? AM/FM?
What brands? And is there really a neccesity for one? I will be driving solo: does that matter?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Cheers

We use the popular Family Radio Service (FRS) handheld radios. You can get them at most places that sell consumer electronics or order them online. Most people get the more powerful dual FRS / GMRS versions. Be sure to get one with sub channels. The national Mini channel is 7/21.
As far as weather a little rain isn't a problem. As long as there aren't any severe storm alerts from the weather service I will be going. That is why I like the Mini, it lets me get out and have fun any time. Compared to my motorcycle the Mini is pretty cosy on rainy days.

Alice's Restaurant for lunch approx. time, noon. They will be expecting us and

We have been having many server problems recently.
At this moment there is a tech working on the system.
This time it is down being serviced.
Once we are back up we should no longer have the yoyo
effect.
Sorry for the delay.
We are frustrated as well.
Thanks for your patience.
NorCalMINI's
Meetups for tomorrow are listed above.
Thank goodness for NAM~
