FINALLY!! - Delivery Day
FINALLY!! - Delivery Day
After waiting since a Dec. 6, 2005 order date, factory slowdown, and then waiting for my schedule to clear so I could go to Mentor, OH, I finally took delivery of my '06 HB/S MCS yesterday morning. Although my original MA, Julie Saxa is no longer with Classic, I was still treated like I had been with my '04 purchase. I was picked up at the airport by my new MA, Mike Kost, and wisked away in style to meet the newest member of the family. When we got to the dealership, my car was in the middle of the showroom surrounded by no less than a dozen other MINI's in all sorts of configurations, many of which were to be delivered later that same day. It was pretty hard to get a good pic because I couldn't get far enough away without having other MINI's in the way. Also, was too excited after getting the car out of the showroom to even think about getting a good photo outside, oh well.
This is my third MCS, having also had an '03 and '04. I can't believe the difference in the acceleration and responsiveness of the '06 with the gearing changes that were made. Even while babying the car and watching the revs during the drive home I could tell the difference. Can't wait till I can really test it out.
Thanks again to Classic MINI for first class service throughout the process. This is my second purchase from Classic, and I have a feeling it will not be my last.

GT6, First off I used to race a GT6, a red 71 x group 44 car, as a GT-3 .... it was very fast in a straight line.... when the set up was perfect, perfect is key, it would drive OK... not great..... when it was off..... different story, it was terifying.
Anyway, I'm interested in how much difference there is in the gearing. A little lower in 1st? I have an 03 & not driven anything later than an early 05.
Oh yea, good choice in colors... my car is Indy blue w/white

I can't find my copy of the specs for either '04 or '06 so can't comment definitively on the gear ratios. All I know is there is definately more lower end, it feels great.
Most exciting day of the last year for me was delivery day...
SHARP color, everybody gets the Space Blue with Silver, never the hyper blue/ silver...That really looks awesome....
Wouldn't trade my pure silver/black for anything though. I've loved Bullet since the day I picked him up.

I was so fixated on the car, my meager social skills flew out the window. How was the drive home? Did you go all the way to NH on Sat.? I had a great drive and made it back to Denver late Sun. afternoon. I'll be posting more about later tonight.
Anyway, it was good meeting you. Sorry again for not chatting more. What is your name again? And congrats, that is a great looking MINI.

Anyway, If you find the gearing for the 06, I'de love to know what it is. I do know they tweaked the DME to get a little better range & HP. Guess I need to go drive 1.

You must have had a nice ride back to Denver in that sweet looking JCW, man that was one mean looking car. Loved the tinted windows, really helped bring everything together.

Unfortunately for a lot of us, Julie is no longer an MA, she is doing what she really wants to do, she's pursuing her dream, something that some others of us (me) wish they could do but are just too afraid to jump off the cliff so to speak. If she wants to share with the others, I'd like to leave it up to her (or someone else). I'm not sure that I should be the one to say.
Needless to say though, Classic has some other very, very competent MA's to service this great community!
