JCW and insurance

I was just wondering if insurance companies take into consideration the addition of the JCW package. I have heard both that they do and they don't. I even called up my insurance company (Geico) to see whether or not they do and they said they didn't know and couldn't tell me until I gave them the vin number after I bought the car!! I also heard that because they are factory installed they don't effect the insurance rates. Being an almost 20 year old male insurance rates are important! Any information would be great!

I doubt the insurance companies know enough about MINIs to even know what JCW is. So, I don't think it would directly affect your rates.

It may indirectly affect them, since factory-installed JCW raises the price of the car, and the value of the car is what determines what you pay for certain coverages, such as collision and comprehensive. (They may be called different names in your state.)

<- mad smilies for insurance rates

We have State Farm and it doesn't matter - of course they also insure the hubby's EVO as a Lancer

not w/ state farm, it's not tied to the VIN (according to them) like a Mustang Cobra is.

only increase is value
