Night Owl Poker Run in SoCal - feeler

Ralph Carita and I are in the midst of putting together a nighttime charity poker run and I am trying to gauge interest so that we know which direction to go. This is definitely one for the insomniacs amongst us with the hours being approximately 9 until midnight. But I think it will be worth it! This is something that Ralph and I are doing strictly for fun and it is not officially associated with any club.

Here are the details so far, which are subject to a great deal of revision. Meeting place will be at Krispy Kreems near the traffic circle in Long Beach at which point we will register, get maps, etc. This is an all streets non competitive scenic run with no freeways. We will have six points along the way in which each car will pick up one SEALED envelope containing a playing card. Those who choose to will regroup at the checkpoints and we will caravan along the scenic route. Those who don’t are free to take their own routes as long as they stop at all checkpoints and end up at the final destination on time. Some of the areas we will go through include Pasadena, Long Beach, Hollywood, Santa Monica, etc.

At the end of the run, we will meet at a 24-hour restaurant at which point we will deal each participant the final card. At exactly midnight, we will open the envelopes and the best hand will win half of all the entry fees paid by the participants. The other half will go to a charity.

If you think you would like to participate in the rally, please let me know so I can get an idea of how many people are going to participate. It is open to all Minis and MINIs.

We don't have a date yet but there appears to be enough interest to make it a very fun event. It will be a Saturday evening - probably sometime in late February or early March. Are you interested in doing it?
