February 19th Meet

Clear your calendar for Sunday February 19th. Steve & I are planning on hitting our local Hwy 25 twisties again. We would like to invite everyone to come.

Here is our plan......we will meet at the Dairy Queen at 3134 Cahaba Heights Road, B'ham 35243. The plan for now is to meet at 1PM, gabb awhile then head out. The planned route is to head down Sicard Hollow Road to Hwy 25. Run Hwy 25 to the Hwy 43 intersection, U-turn & run back up Hwy 25 to the Hwy 41 intersection, then take Hwy 41 back to Hwy 280. We will end at Cold Stone Creamery for some fancy ice cream @ 701 Doug Baker Blvd, Birmingham 35242. Check out their website http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/secondary/creation.asp omg yummmm fancy ice cream. If enough people are interested in having more of a sitdown dinner we can meet an hour (or more) later & go to Lloyd's for dinner instead of having ice cream but unless I get emails from people wanting to do Lloyd's the plan is a 1PM meet at Dairy Queen. I will post closer to the event date for the final meet time 1PM vs 2PM; eat ice cream vs Lloyd's.

I hope we have a big turnout. Look forward to seeing everyone

Please PM me if you wanna meet later & eat at Lloyd's.

See ya,
Teresa

I just realized I listed the ride as Sunday Feb 18th (incorrect)

Sunday is the 19th. I have corrected it now but I wanted to be sure everyone knew

Haven't heard that anyone wanted to meet later & eat a sit down dinner at Lloyd's so looks like 1PM meet time holds.

1PM, Sunday Feb 19th at the DQ in Cahaba Heights

Looking forward to it

I'm really going to try and show up. If I make it there, I'll be driving a big white doorstop aka Civic Si. I just moved down here and need to meet some new people anyway. I haven't even got around to ordering a Mini yet. I can afford it, but I'm just kind of freaked out by such a big purchase. It would be my first new car purchase.

We are keeping an eye on the weather. Rain is predicted for the next 10 days but who knows what Sunday will truly bring. It could be raining in one part of town & clear in another so I plan to post Sunday between 11AM & 12PM if the weather is clear for the ride

I think we should go ahead & cancel the ride for tomorrow The weather is so hit & miss. NBC weather predicts a sleet/snow mix from 3PM-4PM tomorrow with a high of 38 (which they claim we won't reach til 5PM) & FOX weather predicts mostly cloudy & a high of 41. All in all looks like another miserable day.

Looking at rescheduling for next Sunday which Yahoo weather predicts will be 63 & Sunny I will post in the next day or 2 the definite reschedule date

The Highway 25 ride is rescheduled for this Sunday, the 26th. The weather is predicted to be chilly, mid 50's, but Sunny (lets keep our finders crossed that it stays that way )

The plan is exactly the same as before. Meet at Cahaba Heights Dairy Queen at 1PM, same route, end with ice cream. I hope many are free & can come. Look forward to seeing many Minis Sunday

If anybody wants a map of the route PM me & I will email it to you.

Ohhhhh had my top down today hoping I can do it this Sunday but it will probably be too cold.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I invited a friend from work that is a member of the local vette club. She is bringing a few friends so we can show the vettes how to properly ride the twisties

Looking forward to seeing everyone this Sunday (whoever is coming, I guess it will be a surprise )

Look forward to seeing you. Normally I have an empty passenger seat but my aunt is coming with me. Hopefully we can find someone for you to ride with.

Just got back from the ride. Y'all missed a really beautiful riding day. Only Steve, me, & Chris (new BRG-MC, 2 days old I think) came. But 9 vettes showed up (had us outnumbered 3 to one ) so we had a nice group. Vettes handled the curves pretty well, I kept catching the one in front of me in the curves but it was still a nice paced ride.

Hopefully we will have a better turnout for our next ride

Hoping to plan a ride to Cheaha sometime in April. If anyone else is interested in coming let me know.

Well, I was behind you, TT, so I didn't have the same problem with catching up to cars in the curves. But I noticed the corvette behind me lagging a little in the rear view on some of the turns.

Enjoyed it, and Look forward to the next ride. I should be all broken in by then. Nice to meet the folks at the drive.

I had a blast. While it wasn't my original intention, I ended up riding along in a 1977 Corvette. We sorta kicked the rear end out on one of those turns. It was fun in a RWD kind of way. I'll definitely be at the next meet, just hope more Mini's show up!
