Alabama: Motoring ID numbers

I just got an email from MINI-USA (you probably did too). They now have "motoring ID" numbers that you can register for.

Go to the Owner Network at MINI-USA, register for a number, and then get some adhesive vinyl letters/numbers and stick them to your rear window.

I'm TWIST-129

This might be another good way for us to keep track of each other along with the registry which I am nearly finished with. If you have not yet sent me your information for the 2006 Alabama MINI Registry, please do.

I know the other thread is being looked at but I'll post it again here. CURV406. Now to get some small decals and figure out where to place them.

I got FAST111

Doesn't the site recommend 2" Helvetica lettering? It would be nice to find a local (B'ham area) sign shop that we could work a deal with for the decals. I would really like to look at colors other than white. Maybe something reflective. What are you guys looking at?

I went down to Office Max today and bought the vinyl letters that MINI specified: 2" white Helvetica font.

I bought a set that included both letters and numbers for less than $4 and will install them tomorrow in the daylight. . .

I think I am going to place them at the lower edge of the rear window to the right of the wiper.

When I have mine installed, I'll give any of my remaining letters to anyone that would want them at the next event if your motoring ID can be made from my remaining letters. First come, first served on those. . .

I was about to order a decal from Aesthetic Creations anyway so I asked him if he would do me a Motoring ID decal too. He is doing it for $5. Shipping is $8 but I was gonna pay that for my other decal. Hey if anybody local wants him to do them one maybe he could do it & throw them in with my stuff to save shipping & I can bring it to our next dining experience. I just placed my order.

I am only doing mine 1" high (& in white) because the I have a convertible & my rear window is too small but I think 2" will look good on the hardtop rear windows.

You all just decide what color or size and let me know, I can order about any color and think I may can do it for a BAMA future member pretty cheap.
Just a thought

Well, I used the vinyl letters from the office supply store and am not really happy with them. 2" letters are HUGE! I know the idea is to be able to see them from another moving vehicle, but I don't want the ID dominating the look of my MINI.

Maybe 1.5 inch letters would be a good compromise? What do you think they'd cost from your source?

Yucca, I haven't measured yet but I'm thinking I may put my id# below the rear wiper arm. I already have our logo on the bottom right and the actual size in the top center. That's the only place I have left since the bottom left is designated for the Dragon 129 logo once I get a chance to get up thereand get one.

Although I already signed up, I'm now wondering why no one thought of doing this here first. That is, why not use our own screen name? I mean, they're unique, aren't they? And, we chose them ourselves, not plucked 'em out of a list!

If we applied vinyl showing our screen name, it might identify the MINIac a lot quicker, no?

Just realized this is a regional thread . . .

I tried some 1" letters and it could be better if a different font or lower case were available in the store. I'm going to check out the local guy here and see if he can whip me up something in the Actual Size font and size.

Here is the location I finally decided on.

That looks really nice SB.

I am not satisfied with my HUGE 2" letters or that I cannot get them lined up perfectly. I'll try a sign place and might copy your location. . .
