Just wanted to share the great experience I had with Luis at Precision Autowerks in Miami performing my 5,000k oil change and tire rotation. He gave me a very fair price, especially compared to what the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale dealers were asking. He was great to talk to and gave me some advice on different items (I'll be dropping in a K&N filter very soon ). I could have probably done the oil change myself, but I decided that I should let an expert do the first one. Luis is a three-time MINI owner, plus tunes MINIs at his shop, so I felt I was in good hands.

I thought oil changes were free in the US? Are you not still under warranty? I ask this because although I have a 2005 US spec MCS, oil changes are not covered under warranty here in Germany. Luckily the Germans let us source our own oil (far less than they pay).

I am under warranty, but only the factory scheduled oil changes are included in the US maintenance plan (at ~10K miles). I just didn't feel comfortable leaving the same oil I took delivery with in the engine until 10K miles. Just personal (and a few others here in NAM) preference.

 

Luis Sanchez is a great guy and a good friend of mine. He is the "guru" when it comes to all things MINI.

Luis is also a seasoned autocrosser. He has over 20 years experience repairing and modifying vehicles.
