OBX Headers

Well I ordered an OBX header from sparktecmotorsports and a magnaflow 2.5" cat. Initially I'll be hooking up to my stock exhaust and maybe do a cat back system later. Any suggestions on the catback? Looking for the quietest with most HP gain
.
Problem is I haven't been charged for the headers and emails for status have gone unanswered.
Anyone dealt with sparktecmotorsports? Seems customer service is lacking.
Just wondering if they are in stock.
Which Ebay dealer is Sparctec maybe I'll email him from there?
Didn't buy them on EBay I got them directly from thier website. Same price but shipping was $12.60 compared to $32.00 Ebay.

Can't help but let us know how it turns out. I am pretty close to ordering the OBX from the Sparctec website too, if yours turns out that is.

Suggest you try the 1-ball which would be the quietest after stock, you get a couple of ponies and its an inexpensive commitment. Since it is inexpensive, you could throw it on while the header is being installed.

How is the OBX exhaust? Very loud? Did you use your stock cat?

I also ordered the OBX header from Sparktec, and I about 7-9 days later I got an e-mail saying it had shipped. I think it took at least a week from that point to arrive. Slow, but no problems.

Sparktec is a small operation - I picked up the OBX header from Danny Wong, and we had to coordinate on a date and time. I get the impression they're in for only about half a day, three days a week. Unfortunately, that's pretty standard for eBay storefronts. Nice guy, though - his girlfriend has a MCS. Ironically, I had the impression he was hesitant to put the OBX header on her ride.

I dealt w/ Danny Wong - no problems. Once ordered, it went out 4-5 days later and then about 10 days later it arrive.

A couple of people had experienced w/ missing parts. When I ordered, I raised this to Danny and he assured me that was no longer a problem. Sure enough mine came complete. I would suggest that if you did get an incomplete box that you send the whole dam thing back. These ebay stores "distribute" goods and aren't set-up to send you a missing part.

I'm considering the benefits of having the OBX ceramic-coated and wondering if it is really worth it for around $100. Also, is there anything else that would get good results to ceramic coat if I go that route?

approximately the following -

OBX header 200.00
header install 150.00 (should be no more than 2 hours of labor)

1-ball 125.00
1-ball install 35.00

I would think so. I may be off but it seems that most people get rid of the pre-cat and have it welded to the cat, so it should still be legal.

Never mind after further reading I find that it is a matter of getting the elbow and pipe fabricated to the existing exhaust.
Saw the elbow at myminni but I understand it is 2.25 in and 2.5 out. I plan to use 2.5" all the way up to the muffler.
My plan:
Ceramic coated inside and out OBX header to 2.5" magnaflow cat to 2.5" pipe up to the muffler. I may look into a magnaflow 2.5" in/out and tips. That way I will have my stock exhaust headers to tips in tact if I feel like putting it back.
What do you all think?

Technically this header is not legal in CA. No CARB #. but if you install the header and reinstall the heat shield, smog tech can't see the header at all.

Outbackbob, I purchased my OBX header from Motorenergy On ebay. I ordered it on a tues and got it on friday. they didnt charge tax since i'm a CA resident. There were no missing parts. Fast shipping.

Danny Wong has no class, I bought my headers from him and it was missing all the installation components, no gasket or anything, all I got is the headers, I've been emailing him since Sept, here are some of my emails and replies from him.

From Danny:

sounds good will ship shortly. thanks

I think if you are going to start replacing piping, you should consider a full cat back and forget the 1-ball.

OK- my next choice was the OBX cat back. How's the sound level compared to stock or 1-ball?

1 word = loud.

If you do a search you will see that I did a write-up. Also if you go to product reviews, I posted a write-up. When I did my write up I had included sound clips but the reality is that they don't truely reflect the actual sound BUT this is a FULL sport tone system.

I'm running the OBX header with stockcat then stock straight pipe connected to the obx catback. The OBX Catback system is NOT a true catback for it does not supply the straight pipe. SuperSprint (unwilling sperm donor to OBX ) offers a resonator as an option.

You started this thread seeking "least loud" correct?

If that is the case do the 1-ball and keep stock piping 2.25. Another non-loud system that I have heard is the mymini single sided system which is nicely made and "pops" right in. I'm sure there are others.
