Rear Fog Lights Install

OK, so this is what i seem to have gathered about the rear fogs...

Wiring harness is built into the cars with a post Oct-04 build date (mine was built May-05, so it should be ok)

Then i just need to install the toggles and still i need to have the dealer activate something (i read a pin somewhere)? What is required to activate it that we can't do it ourselves, seems like all it would need is power...

For toggle installation, i had trouble getting my downtubes out the first time i tried. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to get them out? I pulled out on the bottom of the dash before (after removing the Torx screws) but it sounded like it was just snapped together. There's nothing i'm worried about more in that car than creating dash rattles by breakign some plastic clip somewhere...

Thanks,
-EK

As far as the down tubes are concerned, I remove the torx screws slide the tubes downward then when they bottom out I can pull them toward the out side of the car and use the knee knocker and glove box to hold them in place. I have been able to remove the radio, manual climate control, toggle switches and lower vent thing by using this method. I don't know the specifics as to exactly why a reprogram is necessary, though there is a thread somewhere that explains this, same reason dealer needs to activate OEM driving lights

Just realized that this is your third post, Welcome to NAM. The search function can be very useful.

Yep. You'll often see a reply which just contains "Bump" for just that reason.

See also this recent entry on GBMINI.net, including some hopefully helpful pics - same applies to your May'05 as these '06 pics ...

Thanks guys... Ian, how did you know that the other reason I wanted to get this out was so I could (finally) get your auto-up switch installed?

I've been procrastinating too long... and hating every minute of closing my windows...
