Hello, all. Mr. Sunnyhorse and I picked up our 2006 MC today and, on getting home, tried unsuccessfully to program the built-in garage-door opener (the Mini's light doesn't blink at all when you try to sync up the remote and the Mini; we did try replacing the battery in our remote, but no dice). Our door is powered by a 10- to 15-year-old Craftsman model. Are we out of luck? The Homelink site seems to indicate that you might have trouble programming a pre-1982 model, and we're well within that range, as far as we know.

Look on the overhead unit itself. Is there a button on it? (Maybe orange, maybe green)...

If so, use that button to program the car.

Step 1: turn on ignition
Step 2: press and hold 2 outer buttons of rearview until you get blinking light (this clears out the memory).
Step 3: Press button on overhead unit, then press and hold one of the buttons on the rearview until it flashes quickly.

You may have to move the car around to find a good spot (don't park where the door can close on you).

Another tip: look on the back of your overhead unit. Mine had its own programming instructions on a label.

You probably have a fixed code unit, which should still work hopefully. You just need to old the remote near it after following the instructions above.

Worst case, Sears sells a Rolling code upgrade unit that you could hook up to the older door opener. It would definitely work with the Mini.
