Strange problem with Aux Items plugged into Ciggerate Lighter...

It happens with my iPod and Xact Sirius radio... If they are plugged into the ciggerate lighter they randomly shut off and the "Aux" mode on my headunit disappears.... I have to turn the car off and it comes back. Very strange. has anyone ever had this happen to them??

You need to install a ground loop isolator between the aux input and your external device (such as http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062214). Search the forums for "ground loop isolator" for discussion about the issue. If you are comfortable working with connections, you may want to install the ground loop isolator permanently out of the way behind your aux input jack; then anything you plug into aux input will be isolated.

there's a GLI made by pac on the crutchfield site
that incoporates 1/8th male/female jacks that
seems a bit easier to package.

I don't understand. Ground loop isolators are usually used for noise problems. I would think that it is turning off because of a connection to the cigarette plug in. Did you replace your radio... have the console out at any time?

I don't understand the mention of using the aux and a FM modulator. You couldn't mean both at the same time (wouldn't make sense). Also are you saying that the device actually powers off, or that it remains powered on but the headunit doesn't see a signal from the device?
