Amp/Spkr wiring question...

For those of you audio DIY'ers that installed amps, how did you get the signal to your speakers?

Run new cable to the speakers?
Run cable to where the speaker wires come out of the door inside the cabin?
Run cable back to the head unit?

What's the best/easiest way to get the signal from a 4 channel amp to the speakers? I ask because I've heard in the past that there's not any room in the cable run through the door/cabin tube for additional speaker cable.

Thanks,
Waag

When I did my stereo, I ended up putting both the 4-channel amp and the mono amp in the trunk and ran RCAs and stereo wire up the passenger side of the car. I decided to go with using the stock wiring, as I wasn't comfortable with drilling holes to get aftermarket wires into the doors.

If you do a search, I know there are pictures on the forums of people drilling and using aftermarket wires. They would've been within the last 6 months too if that helps.

Well I had an amp. and subwoofer installed a couple months ago...It was done by the DIY network and they now have a detailed step-by-step description on how to install a basic system in the MINI. Here's the link. Hope it helps you.

I ran new cable to the new rears, but for the fronts I ran new cable from the amp to the wiring harness behind the head unit. I considered drilling and feeding new cable through the door hinge looms, but after staring at it a while, I just didn't think it would be worth the hassle.

Pics and my wiring diagram are on my audio page, accessible from the link in my sig if you're interested. I took care to devise cable paths that kept power cables away from signal cables.
