R50/53 My Mini is waiting
My Mini is waiting
Talk about frustrating - My '06 PW/Black Cooper w/ Piano black has now had it's fender flares, etc. painted body color and is ready to Pick up @ So. Bay Mini in Torrance. My office (also in Torrance) is closed tomorrow so I can't ride in from home here in Irvine with my partner, and my fiancee and friends all have to work tomorrow. Guess I can wait another day 'til Sat., but if there is a fellow OC Mini driver who'd like to give me the lift (32 mi. each way), you'll get to see a great looking Cooper, and I'll fill your tank.
A cab in LA? Buses? Unless things have changed since I moved from there...one is hard to find and will cost a fortune and the other will take days to get anywhere near where you want to go. Place is just too spread out for rapid transit.

If picking it up today created a big hassle for me I would let it go until tomorrow. Yet, I do remember that when I was waiting for my '02 MCS one more day felt like an eternity. In fact, my ds/w was totalled last week and I now have an '06 on order. Delivery is likely by the beginning of February and while I won't have to wait six months like the first time, I'm already a little bit antsy. Happy motoring!
It's finally home
Hi all, got the mini home - Thanks to Bar10Girl. Posted detailed saga of pickup on the So. Calif. forum. So. Bay Mini did a great job prepping and painting the fender flares, & other front & rear black plastic Pepper White, and it looks very cool. Got the piano dash & love it. Maybe its the visual "lowering" of the car due to the body colored fender flares, but the 15" holeys are lookin' good to me. Gotta save up and when I wear out the 15inch tires (pirelli btw/ not contis) maybe pop for the 15 X 7 BBS RGFs & suitable rubber. After just the short drive home on the 405 (dutifully changing engine speeds for breakin) I'm really struck by how much fun this car is to drive. Not that fast (its a Cooper not an MCS) but quick & nimble, and surprisingly comfortable. The HK stereo sounds great, the heated seats toast you in about 2 min., shifter and clutch action are Smooooooth. Think I'm gonna enjoy motoring
