Developed specially for GS competitors

Get your order in before supplies run out! I know you all are hurting from the index change (in case you haven't heard - it went from .782 to .795).

Developed specially for GS competitors-prepgs.gif

This was sent to me by a local competitor. Honestly, I think Rick Ruth was overcompensating on this one, but it is what it is, and we will just have to run with it. I think it is tough, but I don't think it is impossible to overcome, and at least it will shut everyone up about the "soft" index.

Thank goodness here in SFR Region we don't rely on PAX for year end points. The only thing it is good for around here is the street tire index classes. Contrary to what D. Shield may think as a "local" competitor I don't mind changing my tires to "R's" at an event. This is a racing sport, not a trip to the grocery store.

In the D.C. Region we don't do ANY street tire classes except for the National. With the exception of the Ladies class, I don't see why anyone would rely on PAX for the year end. The wife is not driving a Cooper S anymore, so we're not worried about that (she won the championship in 2005... ).

However, I think H Stock will still be a great PAX for L1 and local Ladies classes, particularly since there is still money involved at the National level.

I personally feel that the bump should have been maybe .009.

I received my tube from the Subaru guys on Monday:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=891381

It has not been very soothing or cooling at all. I do smell kind of funny now.

And of course my region has decided to run a PAXed Pro class for 2006. We'll be running the Pro class and using the new '06 PAX at our event this Saturday.

Hey Joe... Still think the Pax stinks? (I saw your results)

How funny to see my pic being used here.

Yeah, the new GS PAX is a real crime. Chiles was only able to post the second fasted index time at the '06 Ft Meyers NT. In fact, only 5 of the top 20 PAX finishers were GS cars, including one non-MINI. WHERE'S THE JUSTICE!

ONLY 5 out of 20.

With numbers like that I'd say the GS will get even tougher in the future.

First of all, I said that it would be difficult to overcome, but not impossible. Also, judging by the video of Ft. Myers (here), and looking at the course map (somewhere on <this> thread) this was a course with mostly transitions, so of course the Mini is going to do well, and it should have pax'd high even with the new numbers. I bet that you won't see this as the trend for the Mini's this year. But time will tell.....

Another travesty of justice at the San Diego Tour, where Wilcox was only able to finish 6th on the index, despite the misfortune of having to run the first heat (lower surface temps + dirty line + no rubber down = less grip).

At least one GS driver has made the top 10 in each of the tours so far this year; 4 made the top 10 at Houston. Anyone wanna appologize to Rick Ruth yet?

AH HA!
I was wondering when someone was going to get this thread going again.
LOL!

BTW, we are 2 events into our local series and......

Kudo's to Jake at event #2:
http://www.wwscc.org/event_results/2...06-2.html#OPAX

Glen did pretty well at event #1:
http://www.wwscc.org/event_results/2...06-1.html#OPAX

I agree, that so far, the tours seem to be ok for the Mini's if you care about PAX #'s.

It is my guess that the GS Mini's are going to just fine in pax for the rest of the year too.

Too bad RR lowered the number .001 after all the screaming/yelling..
Locally, I am going to need all the help I can get! LOL!

In all seriousness, I think the # is close now. I would guess, from what I have seen with the new #'s, that lowering the pax for next year is NOT going to happen. Will it get harder? Hard to say.
I think that there is a good chance that the # could go up slightly for 07.

FM(who is hoping his new car in CS is going to do ok in PAX)

FYI - Atwater NT pax results after 1st day had top GS driver in 42nd place. There actually are courses that aren't "Mini" courses!

Or the surfaces do not work well for Mini's set up for asphalt....
My quickie math says that CP whooped up on everyone.
Beat Kevin in SS(stock class p1 pax?) and the rest of the stock classes by 4+ PAX seconds????
WOW! what's up with that?
Course or concrete surface or both???
There was some good drivers in Atwater. Not used to seeing such a spread.

Atwater is home base for most of those CP guys. They run 2 day monthly competitions out there. Club link is here. http://www.americanauto-x.com/
