mileage, time, sell curve

I have an 05 JCW, a company car. It is one year old and has 38,000 miles on the odo. It will likely be sold or traded in next year. Do any of you good kind folk have any info regarding the best time for a given amount of mileage to sell a car ie, 75kmiles, 65kmiles and two years old ?

Michael

Considering you are well past the 15K miles per year norm (unless it's a very early '05), I'm not sure it matters...

But it has an interesting selection of options... got any pics?

Nice Company and where do I sign up??

Like Ian said you're well past the norm for annual miles (maybe lots of highway miles??). Is the Company going to write it off when they flip it? If not and they are concerned with getting the most out of the car, you might want to sell it prior to the Warranty expiring.

If they do want to take a big hit and then write off the difference, let me know. I think I can help.

Between 60K and 100K miles there's problably not a lot of difference, price wise. As already mentioned, the car's already going to be pegged as a high mileage company car. As such, it definitely won't bring in near the money one would if it only had 30K to 40K on it. Also, I imagine given another year, the market will continue to soften as more used MINI's are added to it. It's really kind of difficult to speculate what yours will bring at that time.

You need to look at a Real KBB (not the online stuff) and look to see where the high mileage penalty kicks in. It would seem that just Prior to the high mileage penalty would be prime time. Unfortunately, I think you already into the penalty and it really doesnt matter anymore

I'll sell the car with 17" BBS wheels and the 16" all season run-f;at that I use in winter.

The car is a mostly highway car - you can tell by the 8 billion tiny prizms in the windshield.

Most of the badges have been removed - all JCW badges. It is a very simple and clean looking car, on purpose. It doesn't get noticed by radar carrying type folk.

Oil is changed about every 3-4k miles - mobil 1 plus a filter.

Well, you've all given me something to think about. The company came to me and told me we are not driving this car to near 200K miles like the last one; too many repairs and worth nothing when the last payment was made. We'll see what reality forms up like in a year...and I was just about to buy some stuff, damn! Well, now I have money for my three root canals...wow, I feel great

my experience with bmws is that mileage in the mid 30s

starts dropping prices...
after 40,000 miles, prices take a decent drop
