Gauge Light Dilemma!

Ok, after a few hours and being in the dark, i finally got my Defi BF meter boost gauge hooked up. My only concern is that the light wire is hooked up to the dash gauge light wire (gray/red). When the lights are off, I can not see the gauge, but when they are on, the gauge will light up. Here are my choices, should i just run the lights on all the time or should I rewire the gauge light to be on all the time and have my lights on only when needed? What would you perfer?

I read the manual more for the gauges and I realized I had the gauge hooked up to the wrong port. So the BF gauges have a day time mode and night time more. You can adjust the brightness in each mode for your prefs. Man do I like these gauges!
