Trying to figure out which ECU upgrade to go for is really difficult. There is nothing to hold in your hand to evaluate and compare. It would be great to take 1 car w/ basic mods and see what you get.

Just fustrated and venting.

Of all the parts to do a shootout on this would probably be the hardest. The ECU depends more on your other mods than anyother change you can make. An ECU on a stock car may show 5 hp, and that exact ECU mod would show maybe a gain of 10 hp on a modded car. So you would have to devise a way to do that. Perhaps install all the ECU's on one car which was stock, on one car which is mildly modded, and one car that has all of the goodies.

Sounds like a good idea though, just need to work through all of the problems related to any kind of shoot out

Sure some stock owners might just do an ecu upgrade but I think most start elsewhere. I think most MODders start with CAI, pulley and exhaust and thats what I would use as the test bed.

Thats becuase you have not stated Which tickets you want - STANDARD tickets or TUNER Tickets? Ensure to include any/all BODY Mods so I can send you customized tickets. No software or cable required .

I think you may want to consider doing this shoot out on a car with an intake, 15% pulley and and exhaust. That is the list of the common mods that would benefit the most from an ECU remap IMO.

I would like the Tuner ticket (since I want free upgrades to first class), the only body mods so far today are an Egg McMuffin (with Folded Egg) and a Large Dr. Pepper.

A stock car benifits from an ECU map as well. The factory A/F ratio is extremely rich. Raising the redline adds more HP (since if you add hp, and then allow it to spin faster you get even more hp)

My sentiments are the same.
Well, we have one onboard - MTH. Says something about MTH. What are the odds the others will want to play? Of course the subject of money has not been covered (i.e. donating the flash for the shootout). Nor the costs of the dynos. I doubt the vendors would pay any real attention to a single individual but perhaps if NAM approached the vendors, it would be taken seriously.

I'd gladly buck up my car and pay for before & after dynos. The only problem is with my luck every vendor would come in and I'd have a 2,000 dyno bill.

My guess is that we will never know who is king of the ECU hill.

I know that a stock car benefits but the person who is most likely to want it has done or is considering this list of common mods.....patience........patience......patience:co ol:
