ewwww, what's with all that tacky black plastic crap surrounding the taillights and headlights? How can MINI possibly think that looks good?

Come on! You should know by now that test cars are disguised for obvious reasons. The pictures give u an overall feeling for the car.
Suggestion: read the article, is pretty short concise and good.

Yeah, I was joking. Check out the end of my post.

I do agree that the pictures give you an overall feel for the car, especially in conjunction with all of the other ones we've seen. So far I've seen so reason to alter my pessimistic perspective on the appearance of the next-generation MINI. It's a larger car, which automatically makes me inclined to hate it. With some cars that grow in size, the appearance improves so much that I can forgive somewhat (Altima, for example). This new MINI, on the other hand, looks to be not only larger, but much uglier as well. Much like the new Jetta.

I am sorry, but you can not describe the new Jetta as ugly. A Gremlin was ugly. A Pacer was ugly. A Pontiac Vibe is ugly. The Jetta is just bland. It inspires no feelings what so ever.

true. however, you can say it is ugly compared to the previous model... and be right!

I said it was uglier. The last generation Jetta was a reliability nightmare, but it was an attractive car. This new one is seven inches longer, and looks like a Camry. You're right, it's not downright ugly, but it's not particularly attractive either. I fear that BMW is steering MINI down that same path.

I agree, the new jetta is quite dull. As far as the mini goes. I am keeping this one. But as I hae previously mentioned on another thread, Ill probably buy the new one ones they fix the bugs after the first two years...so round 2010 Ill get the next one. (Possibly keeping the one I currently own)

Don't forget the poster children for ugly cars:

Pontiac Aztec
Subaru Tribeca (ne new Edsel)

Cheers
