Here are some pics of my cellphone kit and xm radio install. I figured these would be of interest to someone planning the same.

the mount is a vehicle specific mount for the MINI made by Pana-Vise. It mounts using the existing screws that hold the radio in. No new holes required.

this is the spot up top where I believe the factory mic would go.

speaker and main box mounted behing driver's knee panel.

small inside mount antenna made by Hirschmann.

xm antenna next to factory antenna.

xm main unit under passenger seat. just enough room.

Thanks for the pics and info. Can you give us any idea of cost? I'm specifically interested in the cell phone bracket and mic wiring.

Thanks.

The bracket is a $20 - $25 piece that you should be able to get from any cellphone/stereo installation shop. The mic is just the standard mic that came with the kit, and is just held to the pop-out piece with double sided tape. When you pop off that piece (you can do it by hand) it is easy to run a snake from the opening to the front of the headliner and then run your wire across and down. It's pretty open in there.

No It won't control the phone, but I added a steering wheel control interface, so all the buttons work with my Pioneer headunit. I did, however hook up the mute function on the cellphone kit so my radio mutes when i make or recieve a call
