Help me decide what color to paint my Volk TE37s

Hey guys this is driving me crazy so maybe you can help me out. A little while ago I bought a set of TE37s. The only problem is I bought the wheels in white but my MINI is HB/B and I don't think the white would really look that good on her. I always wanted to paint these gloss black but then I saw that el deablitos car has gloss black TE37s. I really don't want to "copy" someone elses mini so I guess my question to you is do you think our cars would look to similar or an I just parinoid? Do you think I would be better off painting them a dark grey or some other color. Please help!!!!!!

If it looks good to you do it. There are thousands of MINIs out there. It is inconceivable that some things wont be alike. Now if you were to make it alike from bumper to bumper that would be bad. If you just happen to have a couple of things alike than oh well. Now if you start to look like el deablitos, than things have gone to far. That is just my 2/100 of a dollar.

It does not matter if El Diablito's car has black ones. I agree that white would not look good with the black top, paint them to black.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. It's just that TE37s are kind of a rare wheel for the MINI and getting them powdercoated black is even more rare. I think the reason this bothered me so much is because we live in the same area. Anyways besides the wheels (and maybe color-coating the plastic trim) nothing else would be the same so I think I should be fine, right?

I wish I could. Not that I wish I could start over because I would do the same thing since TE37s don't come in black but I wish I had the money to give away sets of wheels to everyone . Maybe when I win the lottery(which I will even though I've never played ) I'll buy eveyone on NAM any wheels they want. That will be the day

Go for bronze/gold. Really, I think they would look good on HB (think Subi STi) and far less common then black wheels. I would probably have gone that way myself if I had not found the wheels I ended up getting.

Leave them white and install them !! You will never be able to paint them or get them painted as good as they were painted in Japan

That's true - perhaps just go with it, get a graphic to pick up on the white, ie

I forgot to say that they would be powder coated, not painted. I know it will not be as nice as they were originally painted but do you know how much worse they will be. Will it really be that noticable? Will they chip and scratch easier.

It depends how much effort would be put into the prep of the wheels how good they would turn out..

IMO, try them in white. I have a Chilli Red with black roof and almost did white 17" Superleggera's !! And I would have if someone else did not beat me to the wheels first

TE-37s can be had in black. just need to custom order it.. Getting your white ones powdercoated to black is a great idea. and No it is not copying other's idea because there are probably thousands of black TE-37s out there somewhere. If you want to be slightly different, try polishing the lip.

If you really want black, I think you'll wind up regretting another choice.

I wouldn't worry about what someone else has.

I could be wrong but I do believe that those are the LE37s. They are the same rim as the TEs but with a polished lip.I know volk did a really, really limited edition black TE that was this weird blackish-purple but there is no way that I would be able to find a set of those and even if I did they would probally be so much more expensive. The LE are very, very nice but personally I like the one solid colored rim but thank you so much for taking the time to look those up for me.

Plaid would be awesome. I bet someone would be able to make a plaid roof graphic to match too.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. As of right now I'm pretty set on gloss black but I won't be powder coating them for another week of two so any more suggestions are still welcome.
