anyway to wire up rear fog on 02MCS?

Had this feature on my O3 Audi A4 and was wondering if there is anyway to make this work on non 05' Coopers.

any help would be cool. I asked the dealer and the gave me a song and dance about it only being for 05....

There is a kit for the 2002-2004 cars which includes a new switch panel for the center console. Then the option just needs to be enabled through the software. Note, this will not work correctly if you have the upper tail lights (which are the fog lamps) jumpered with wires to cause them to come on as extra brake lights. In that case you would need to replace the wires with diodes.

I am suprised the dealer played dumb on this. Or...... maybe I'm not.

for some reason that sounds hella expensive. Especally when BMW charges like $120 per hour for labor to reset the ECU to run this!

I paid 50 bucks for the Euro switch and then had them program the ECU. It takes like 15 minutes between hook up, programming, and removal of computer. I did the Euro switch in also 15 minutes (More like an hour because I was drunk). It's not hard. Take the screws out of the 2 posts alongside the radio. Pop the dashboard trim off. Disconnect the harness from the panel and then re-install everything in reverse order. I think that is about it. Oh....I got scammed on the programming cost. They charged me 60 bucks (1 hour) of labor even though it took 15 minutes. Hope that helps. P.S. - The rear fog light retrofit will not work if you have the jumpers installed or you have the ll clear lenses.

There's also the pre-'04 brake light mod, which makes the car use the entire taillight for braking, as opposed to only half. There's a cheap kit available from NAM member mini-rolls that's super-easy to install. Not having the cars roll out of the factory this way was just asinine.

Classic MINI sells them. They are an advertiser on the site. I think mine was maybe $65 shipped. Install took 15 minutes and the dealer charged me a programming fee of $40 to turn them on. THey can also make other changes to setting while they do it so if you want do anything with daytime runnig lights, comfort opening, multi-press unlocking, etc, that would be the time.
