Argggghhhh ! ! Installer damaged my wheels.

Got my new GY F1's and went to have them installed yesterday and the guys scratched 3 (2 quite badly) of my wheels !

This was an installer recommended by TireRack. I have notified TireRack about them and Alex has sent me a survey to fill out about my experiences with the installer.

They are standing behind there work and have offered to either have the wheels repaired (at $150 a piece) or replaced with after-market ones ($300 credit towards purchase).

At this time I am leaning towards getting some Exel wheels, and replacing my S-bricks, and paying the difference.

So I my be getting my new wheels faster than I thought.

Just be sure you are getting a good deal, you shouldn't have to pay more then a good online price just because you'll be buying the wheels through them because they damaged your OEMs.

I don't really understand why on one had they say you'd be getting a value of $450 for repairing three S Lites vs the lower $300 credit for the new wheels? Shouldn't the value to you be the same in any case?

Exactly - don't let them dictate the terms. They need to satisfy you or see you in small claims court.

In all honesty the one wheel is barely scratched. It was mostly covered by the tire once mounted. I am willing to overlook the minor scratch to facilitate an agreement that satifies me, no court time for me.

They have since contacted me and have said that I can get any wheel I want, not just the brands that they normally carry.

So I am looking at some Exel's at WheelMax.com. Some good looking wheels there.

These are the ones I am thinki9ng about.

I'm very happy with mine - great quality. I did have to have the rebalanced, but they reimbursed me. The adaptor they sent has also twisted, 2nd time it was used - I'm still waiting for a replacement but am also trying to find it else where. The wheels themselves and the prices are excellent though.

He's probably talking about hubcentric rings. Chances are he got plastic rings, which are crap. Metal hubcentric rings are the only way to go.
