I got my Speedo ring today form Moss, however no instructions or anything. Came in a plastic bag with a alchol wipe. Looks like I am to wipe the area clean, then pull off tape backing and attach.
Is this correct? Anyone have any helpful tips?

Hi there,
I too am interested in installing the "rings" on my DS/MCS.
Please let me know how you make out.
Also ... did you get "banged-out" on the ring(s) ??
I am amazed at what someone can sell these cheap things for.

I have installed all the rings in my car except the two on the dash and the door pins. And yes all you do is wipe it, peel it and stick it. Thats it.

I'll chime in here - We have been carrying Chrom Design products for some time now - the same ones Moss is starting to carry and the are very high quality pieces compared to the other ones on the market. They are chromed aluminum and will not flake or peel.

here is how to mount your new chrome accessories:

1) Test fit the item where you plan to mount it - remember, this is a test fit - do not peel back the strip from the adhesive. This is to give you an idea of how it will be positioned.

2) With the alcohol swab, wipe the area of application so that you remove all grease and dressing agents. Without doing this, the item will simply not stay in place - especially in the hot sun.

3) Let this area dry for about 2 minutes.

4) Carefully remove the double sided strip covering (do not touch exposed tape) and carefully place it where it needs to go - just like you did in step #1.

5) Push down with some pressure for about 30 seconds in equal areas.

6) Wipe down with soft terry cloth towel to remove your finger prints.

7) Sit back and smile.

Now, the Chrom Design system is quite nice - they make chrome parts that are component designed - meaning that if a Mini tech needs to get into your dash, they never have to rip off your chrome part - in fact, the chrome part can now be removed with the item it is stuck on as *one unit*.

We also carry a German 3M sticky adhesive - that looks like black chewing gum that we also provide in case you would like to use this method - it is easy to use and your item can be remounted a number of times with this - unlike the tape method.

And of course, we carry all chrome accessories at
RSpeed MINI.

The only other question I have is the speedo ring is not a real tight fit. Shouls I mount it at the low point or the high point. I am not saying it does not fit, just not snug. I fear that if I mount it at the high point over time, and bumbs the weight will wear down the tape and it will fall off.

Actually - it should be an pretty good fit - if it is a tad loose, it is because it needs room to fit due to slight inconsistences in production of the actual Mini plastic ring.

Nevertheless, sit in your driver's seat and place it to where you want it - If it were me, I would just center it as good as you can get it.

As long as you clean that area, this ring will nto fall off due to any bumps. Hope this helps.
