R50/53 Aftermarket sunroof shade?
Aftermarket sunroof shade?
I want to order my MCS '06 with a sunroof. My only issue is that there isn't a sliding cover that completely covers it, which is handy here in the south. I was wondering if anyone makes some covers that are in the interior roof fabric that can be switched out for the screen ones in the car? I really like having a sunroof, but don't want the sun in the car all the time. When we test drove yesterday I felt like the screen didn't do much to shield the interior from the sun.
Thanks all for the great advice!

Unfortunately, I don't think there's an actual product available, although of course there are people here who have been creative and posted photos of their homemade handiwork. Maybe try a search to find one of those threads.
This is probably right at the top of the "why the heck is no one selling this yet?!" list.
Edit: just did a search for "sunroof shade" and found this. There's a great homemade solution, and a set available for $50 if you think that's worth it.

I also very much would like to replace the mostly useless screen with opaque interior fabric. However, I haven't found anyone yet that will do that (I'm mostly useless at DIY). In the meantime, I've bought the Stratmosphere sunshades for the sun roof and they work fine.
Second to the stratmosphere ones. They keep the interior heat way down even in Arizona. I have left the rear one in place all summer and will take it out once it cools down. It is just too hard to get it out form the front seats. The front shade though I take in and out regularly. They are expensive ($100 for the set of 3) but worth IMHO.

What holds them in place? Here in Fla I could really use these.

I found a company that makes them for much cheaper than stratmosphere, check it out.
