Zaino Intitiation Experience

Well am just completing my first Zaino treatment to my MCS. Thanks to all here for the help. I think it is gonna turn out great. I have got 2 coats of Z5 and 2 coats of Z2 currently and hope to add 2 more coats of Z2 this weekend. Also used the Z6 to get a bi of a pop to the finish. Clay bar also prior to sealing but as it is a new car I did not polish the paint. That will wait until this fall when I can sneak the PC into the garage.

I did not Zaino the wheels as I am gonna begetting a set of OZ's and will jsut treat those from the getgo. The S-lites will become winter tires so I really don't see the sense in spending the time and money. I also Zaino'd the glass and it is amazingly clear.

Thanks again!
Joel

Me, too!

I just did the Zaino treatment to my black Lincoln Navigator as practice for my new JB/B MINI (my MINI won't be here 'til this weekend).

My Nav is a '99, with over 100k miles and has taken quite a beating from my rehab business, 3 yrs living in Boston, and being my primary vehicle for 6 years. I was *blown* away by how well Zaino worked.

I started with a very thorough Dawn wash and rinse, followed by PC over the whole truck (and it's a lot of truck ). Then started in with ZFX-activated Z5, Z6, ZFX-activated Z2. This weekend it'll get more Z-6/Z-2!

I had hoped to get more done, by wife decided to wash her car while I was doing Zaino and just grabbed the Dawn and went to town on her '05 BRG/B MCS! She knew better, but had inadvertently just stripped off all the NuFinish wax she spent a good bit of time putting on. So I Zaino'd her car, too!

I am an absolute convert - can't believe I didn't hear about this before coming to the NAM discussion forums.

Why polish paint that doesn't need it?

I thought Nu Finish was a polymer, like Zaino, rather than a wax, so the Dawn wouldn't have washed off the Nu Finish....though I could be wrong.....nah....

BTW, I've used Nu Finish and now Zaino.....no contest...Zaino

Here's some info from Zaino's website - note the part about Dawn being tough on polishes... I also read somewhere (and I can't find the reference right now - I think it was an article about a competition between products) about Dawn removing Zaino and other related products.

3. I would definitely recommend you remove the wax buildup on your paint. Just use Liquid Dawn (hand dishwashing liquid) as a car wash. It has a high alkaline content which cuts right thru carnauba wax, paraffin, silicone oils, etc. This will get your paint finish squeeky clean and wax free.

I don't advise making a habit of washing your car with Dawn. But for this scenario it's fine. High alkaline products like Dawn are tough on polishes. It will never harm the paint finish though. A car wash is made specifically to clean without removing durable polishes. ALSO, Make sure you remove any water spots, before you apply my products. Because Zaino has no abrasives or harsh solvents it will not remove water spots or stains. Z-18 ClayBar is great for removing any paint surface contaminants. Re-wash the entire vehicle with Z-7 Car Wash immediately after the ClayBar
Cleaning Process.

I think that note on the Zaino site is about using Dawn to strip off any old waxes on the surface prior to using Zaino...I don't think Dawn removes polymer, but I've heard that regular isopropyl alcohol....anyone out there know the answer?

Yep, that's correct.
