the MINI wax

Hey all,

Anybody ever use the wax that MINI sells in the service department? The container has an orange top and a black body and sells for about $10. I think it is 500 ml (@16 oz.) and is a liquid.

I was wondering if anyone can report on its effectiveness and if it is a good value for the money. I have the insect spray and wheel cleaner that MINI sells and am happy with both products. I usually don't buy this stuff at the service department, but then again I drive a MINI, so life is different anyway  .

Thanks...

I THINK that they are re-branded Sonus products.

On the whole, I like the 3 or 4 Sonus products that I have used. I've never tried their QD, wax or anything other than their compounds, swirl mark removers and polishes (abrasive liquids).

Mini wax

--My Mini dealer gave me the wax for free so I used it for my first wash and wax. It's kinda neat smelling, and not too hard to apply. It smells like orange clean. I put about two coats on most of the body and about three coats on the bonnet. The NEXT day after I washed and waxed while on a club meet/cruise it poured on my car and the wax has still held up well four days later. Most of the car held up pretty good except for the wheels. The rain and brake dust are death for white wheels. I've yet to try to hose off the wheels or wipe them off though. The wax does have some kind of cleaner in it though. I have a white roof and I had some of that orange speckle industrial fallout. I applied the polish a few times and rubbed and I killed a few of those specks. It does build up on my bonnet stripes kind of easily though.

I give it a B- for being a good cleaning polish and pretty durable. But it doesn't give a bling bling, oh my god I'm blind from the shine look like some more expensive waxes. I'm going to use it all up and then I'm putting in my order for Meguiars NXT wax and wheel wax though.

I still have the free Mini wax/BMW wax I got with my Mini 19 months ago. Never opened it. I use NXT.
