Good News/Bad News Re: Detailing

Detailing has many benefits, one of which is air slip. Aircraft owners keep their ships clean and polished to reduce drag and improve effiency. Cleaning and waxing an automobile has the same benefits. After much study here, I spent a week, more or less, practicing what I learned.

What I learned is that a car can also benefit from the reduced drag and air slip from hours of detailing. That's the good news.

What is the first thing you want to do after getting your ride all shined up? Go motoring, why of course. That is exactly what I did and was having a ball "slipping" along getting the feel of road and listening to the whine of the supercharger when out of the blue came that blinding red light behind me. That's the bad news.

Beside what I spent on the detailing materials, there is now a small matter of $100.00 for the fun of "slippin' an' a slidin'" along.

Hmmmm....

Maybe I should take up a collection for wind tunnel tests... What is the horsepower equivalent of using Zaino, Klasse, NXT, Carnuba or Turtle Wax?

I've always been skeptical about if my Mini goes faster if it's detailed/waxed/polished etc, but there's no doubt that I want to drive it faster.
