Question about Alta intake noise...

...received and installed it today (thanks to Randy @ Webb on both counts), and ran it pretty good tonight. Sounds absolutely amazing @ wot, but just a (probably dumb) question about the noise. Hitting the throttle hard, I get a sharp "pssst" noise for just a split-second (sounds like a very subdued turbo blow-off valve); normal? Or did I skip a step?

Yep, normal. Except is kinda like a reverse BOV as it the air getting sucked in instead of blown out.

One thing I would like to know though, at around 40-80% throttle and around the 2500-4000rpm range are you getting a coarse whistling sound? I think this is normal too, but when I took a ride in a friends MCS fitted with ALTA CAI I don't remember it sounding quite so rough around the edges as it does in my MCS. I'm getting used to it now, so its no big deal, but just interested in other people's feedback.

Thanks Liam

I think that would be the by pass valve operating. It is a normal sound and even louder on some other systems .

I just installed the Mini-Madness CAI, and I freaking love it! I can't see how some people dont like the SC whine at WOT. It sounds like a F1 racer. My next adventure is headed to the back end to get a new exhaust i'm looking foward to seeing more of Randy's exhaust.
